Hemochromatosis Support Group

Hemochromatosis is a hereditary disease characterized by improper processing by the body of dietary iron which causes iron to accumulate in a number of body tissues, eventually causing organ dysfunction. It is the main iron overload disorder. Hemochromatosis is notorious for having symptoms that are often initially misattributed to other diseases.

Anyone on this site that could help scaredofdrs? She is in Alabama and is being treated very badly by the medical profession. Does anyone know where she could go from here to get treatment and understanding. Im in the uk and wish I could do something.

Probably not what you had in mind but .....er.....um ....oh I'll just say it .......... Leeches?

You don't need a doctors prescription and you don't need good veins.

I may actually try them myself in a few months time when I get to my maintenance phase despite having no problems with phlebs.

haha....that'll teach'em huh? actually, that had never entered my mind and if i could get my hands on some i would do it. but then what do i do about all the damage i've rec'd since my diagnosis? i have tons of stomach erosion and damage from a galbladder surgery that i can't treat myself for, the pain & fatigue are way too overbearing.

It stands for transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation. its a small machine that sends electrical impulses to the brain to stop you feeling pain. They are used a lot in the uk for women in labour. They cost about 30.00 here. It might help. x x
