Hemochromatosis is a hereditary disease characterized by improper processing by the body of dietary iron which causes iron to accumulate in a number of body tissues, eventually causing organ dysfunction. It is the main iron overload disorder. Hemochromatosis is notorious for having symptoms that are often initially misattributed to other diseases.
On friday i'm going back to my Hematologist for my second appointment. I haven't started treatment, but i think i should since i'm tired as anything all the time, and i'm sure my numbers are up. I saw him 6 months ago and was told to give blood when i could, but they upped the min weights so i wasn't able to :(
I'm gong to ask him about the emu oil, and if/when/how often about treatment. Although i'm pretty nervous about lots of needles :(

so has your ferritin ever been high?
you could be like my brother. he has both mutated genes but his iron/ferritin are normal and he has no signs/symptoms, where as my ferritin is high (500+) and I've got all the symptoms, such as being tired.
