Hemochromatosis Support Group
Hemochromatosis is a hereditary disease characterized by improper processing by the body of dietary iron which causes iron to accumulate in a number of body tissues, eventually causing organ dysfunction. It is the main iron overload disorder. Hemochromatosis is notorious for having symptoms that are often initially misattributed to other diseases.
Andrea's mention yesterday about the Hemochromatosis book from Iron Disorders prompted me to go to their website. In their latest letter they mention DRCA, Double Red Cell Apheresis,something I was unaware of. Just wondering if anyone on the site uses this method to deiron. Sounds interesting. Fewer, smaller needles etc. It is not available in Hawaii but looks like it is available in many Mainland states.

Alas, I am still searching for a specialist who will take me seriously, but the wonderful people at the Iron Disorders Inst. have put me in touch with the Netherlands top HH Prof - he is semi-retired but I have emailed him and will keep you posted.
