Hemochromatosis is a hereditary disease characterized by improper processing by the body of dietary iron which causes iron to accumulate in a number of body tissues, eventually causing organ dysfunction. It is the main iron overload disorder. Hemochromatosis is notorious for having symptoms that are often initially misattributed to other diseases.

Anyone taking psych med 4 pain?

I've had extreme joint and back pain for three yrs now. RA and Lupus runs in my family. So a couple of days ago I went to an RA dr. who ran some blood and urine tests and took about 25xrays. I haven't gotten the results but she says counting the number of joints I have that ache,so far I meet the 'standards' for most prob having RA. But she said being that I have HH,it could very well also be either/and the crystals that form in the joints. If it is,in fact,the crystals-she says there's nothing that can be done about that. She did put me on an anti inflammatory called Mobic and prescribed Cymbalta. I have not started the Cymbalta yet bcause I am afraid of getting back on any psychiatric medication/one that a selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI). I have great anxiety about depending on a drug. And these are the kinds that you have to wean yourself off of or you'll have withdrawal. I am wondering how you feel about this sort of thing and if any of you are taking a psychiatiric drug for pain?

IDK...I'm thinking some things COULD be linked. It's hard to say when there are things that happen to us that can lead to other disease an there are other things that could happen to people that lead to the same diseases. Did that make sense? I'm very emo right now. Just got back from my lab. They did the Titer test on me WHICH I PRAY TO GOD WILL TELL IF I HVE LYMES OR NOT. IDK if that is a 'good test' to consider...but it was all they offered me,so I prayed it would work whether it was considered 'good' or not. I went in and they put the band around my arm to get my vein ready and it just hurt so bad...'normal' people don't understand this...I tried not to cry...but with all my pain,emotional stress and so on...the tears just streamed down my face. It was a 'no go' this vein. And I got (like I alwys do) "IDK why this one isn't working,I'm in the vein." My mom had the same issues...which leads me to believe something that is wrong is causing this-it can't be that i'm JUST dehydrated. It can't just be my fault all the damn time...So she got another vein-THANK GOD. She says I'll get my results in a week.

And you Heidi...I WISH I knew if it were linked or if I feel like this spec because of ANY of the things i'm told I already have...I just want someone to tell me FOR SURE so I can end this quest of "the miracle somewhere out there" and just accept that this is what it is....and stop spending money I don't have. But no one can say anything for sure....and I'm just so tired!
