Heart Failure Support Group
Heart failure is a condition that can result from any structural or functional cardiac disorder that impairs the ability of the heart to fill with or pump a sufficient amount of blood throughout the body. It is often undiagnosed due to a lack of a universally agreed definition and difficulties in diagnosis, particularly when the condition is considered "mild."

Try eating some bananas. I have had this problem, too, and that's what I do. Or you can call the dr's office and ask that a prescription be called in to your pharmacy. Good luck.

I take some orange juice - when we have some.
Also i stretch the calf - here's how - I remain in bed when it occurs and I point my toes up and move my heel away from me to stretch the calf muscle. Hold it for about 15 seconds . Most of the time that is sufficient. Sometimes I repeat it a few times.
Hope that helps you.

Don't just drink water. mix some gatorade in there also. Cramps are indicative of an electrolyte deficiency. Balance water with vitamins and minerals or all water will flush the gooduns out.
Vinegar, oil and garlic. What a bed partner you would make. Can I ask what meds you are taking. Ae you on any thing like Crestor or lipitor. Side effects from the meds can drive you crazy. Also if not checked can be quite serious and permanent. If you throw out the list I can run the gambit on them. Also did these sympotoms just start to occur? Can you see any thing new that you have done at the onset of the symptoms.

Just Joe
The muscle cramps followed the edema that started this whole shebang... I am now on amlodipine, 5mg, bystolic, 10mg and feurosimide 40mg; all once a day. I also take 400mg of magnisium a day. 100mg of requip for RLS and 4mg of zanaflex to help with the muscle cramps and because I did something to my shoulder...they say it could be a torn rotater cuff but we haven't really pushed that issue as I am not working anymore so the doc figures it will heal eventually. With the exception of the diuretic I take everything at bedtime, since the amlodipine comes with a warning to watch for swelling in the lower extremeties, and for me it did cause swelling, I talked to my doc and we switched it around to take at bedtime.
