I have posted twice now and have not had any response at all. Has nobody experienced what my daughter is going through? can nobody help? Im going frantic with worry here.
This is what I posted both in the heart forum and the epilepsy forum:

i've been a member of DS for several years, but in other groups. however, a prominent right atrium with normal size heart has shown up on x ray.
my daughter had a PDA from birth but they only noticed it when she was 9 years old. she grew up with an enlarged heart but by the time she reached 13 yrs it had evened itself out in proportion with her body size and she was discharged by the cardiologist with the all clear.
BUT she continued to get chest pain, palpitations, breathlessness, fatigue, cyanosis and pains in her arm. reently, i asked the gp to send her for a chest x ray to check her lungs for scarring after having had double pneumonia prior to the PDA as i thought this might have explained some of the symptoms she's getting. great news that the lungs were clear. BUT the radiologist report stated that she had a prominent right atrium with normal size heart and sent a copy of the report to the cardiologist advising that in her opinion, a second opinion was necessary.
can anyone tell me if this condition is serious please, or even dangerous? what can i do to help her?
she has also recently been diagnosed with epilepsy (june 5 this year) and, although she's medicated now, she is still having anything from 10 to 25 seizures a day. can the seizures be brought about by a heart condition? i read it could, but i'm completely new to both epilepsy and heart conditions.
i am worried silly right now as during one of her seizures her heart stopped and i really need to know whats going on. for info, mollie is only just 18, bless her.

Obviously the doctor you are seeing is an idiot, and is putting your daughter at huge risk.
The PDA has to be closed and could probably be closed by a rather simple procedure - find a good surgical cardiologist to help you with this.
Stop messing with this before it kills your daughter.

I'd get a second opinion
raoul, thanks for your concern. she actually had her PDA corrected when she was 7 yrs old and it was a simple procedure through the femeral vein. she grew up with enlarged heart owing to it not being corrected at birth or soon after tho, but she was given the all clear by cardiologist 5 years ago. they said heart was now normal size and operating well. then recently on chest xray prominent right atrium showed up. she goes very blue, gets palpitations, breathless, no energy and always tired. she also gets a lot of chest pain, hence all the reasons for an appt. she already arrested once after one of her seizures and i cant understand why she has to wait so long for the appts, especially as i'm told her seizures could be related to heart condition or/and neuro prob and neither neuro or cardio docs seem to be interested.
jami, no i havent looked into pulmonary hypertension, but i will take a look now. thanks for advice:)

when u get to the cardiologist he will figure out whats going on.
I agree, u need to find a way better neouoligst ASAP!
I don't know much about her condition , but I will be sending out hope, and strength and prayers for you and your daughter!
