Heart Failure Support Group
Heart failure is a condition that can result from any structural or functional cardiac disorder that impairs the ability of the heart to fill with or pump a sufficient amount of blood throughout the body. It is often undiagnosed due to a lack of a universally agreed definition and difficulties in diagnosis, particularly when the condition is considered "mild."

I was diagnosed in August and since then I have been doing everything my doctor told me to do. I noticed this weekend I am now able to wash my face and brush and teeth and comb my hair without being short of breath. I got the car washed yesterday and was able to walk from one side of the building to the other without being short of breath. And last week I was able to sleep on one pillow again. I've also lost 22 pounds as of today. All things considered I feel pretty good. And I feel better every day. In the beginning I was scared to death. But as time goes on, I feel more and more oonfident that this is not necessarily a death sentence. But a HECK of a wake-up call.
Even my leg has started to feel better. And today I get the first of 5 injections to help with my knee and leg pain.

I share your sentiments of hope. I was diagnosed on September 11th, how's that for an omen? Anyways, had "pneumonia", turns out it was CHF, caused by a virus. I had an EF of 15-20%. Scared to death, just like you. You have two choices, let this defeat you, or face it head on. When I got home from the hospital I couldn't walk to my mailbox without almost passing out, I sat on the couch and cried. Today I walked 2 miles. My EF is at about 25% now, but the doctors are asking me to get a Pacemaker/Defib...I'm doing so, but I'm staying positive, and like you losing weight, trying to defy the odds. I'm with you, it's a wake up call, make it a positive thing, find the hope in this. It's another chance, think about what could have happened if you hadn't been diagnosed properly. Keep up the positive attitude.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
