Heart failure is a condition that can result from any structural or functional cardiac disorder that impairs the ability of the heart to fill with or pump a sufficient amount of blood throughout the body. It is often undiagnosed due to a lack of a universally agreed definition and difficulties in diagnosis, particularly when the condition is considered "mild."
This morning I was feeling great as I do for the last month or so and I decided to do some gardening in my almost 2 years abandon garden.
After 90 minutes of pruning small branches I decided to call it a day an started to walk to leave the debris in the community container.
The path is about 100 meters going up an small hill and I was not really carrying any weight, just gently pushing a trolley. After the first 50 meters, I suddenly felt a strong pain along the whole 2 arms, from shoulders to hands. The pain grew in intensity despite the fact that I stop walking and pushing the trolley. I decided to walk back home, down hill and when I arrived I have no strength in my hands to be able to get the key out of the pocket and open the door.
As soon as I sit in a chair in the garden, the pain started to decrease and after 5 minutes or so, my hands were back to normal. The whether was perfect no hot no cool. I did not have any pain in the chest nor in any other area. The whole incident lasted only 10 to 12 minutes at most, but was a sort of unexpected experience.
After that, the rest of the day went without any further problems.
Anyone have experienced something similar? Any idea what it could be?.

You should contact your Cardiologist. Discomfort in the upper body as you described is a potential symptom of an MI (heart attack) you do not have to have chest pain for it to be a MI. Especially the duration is typical of MI. While it may be nothing more than over doing the physical exertion, I would suggest you call. If the symptom reappears then you should have someone take you to the hospital or call emergency services.

I also think that your symptom could be serious. And I agree you should cal your doctor. But I am thinking more like a stroke because I remember I had numbness in both hands a and my doctor became very conderned and demanded I go immediately to the ER.
Could be nothing, but certainly needs to be explored.

So really I am just throwing out conjecture which I am sure everyone can relate to, but also have a "Go to the ER" mindset if uncertain. I always said if you are going to be a pin-in -the -ass, then be the best one you can be.

Just for you to know that I feel OK and so far has not had any repetition of the incident.
In one hand I tend to forget it .. but in the other hand, the only reference that I found to Suddenly pain in both arms is in an study in Harvard where they are investigating symptoms of people that have suffered Sudden cardiac arrest... it seems that is one of warnings that those people got some time before they dye....
So if I go to the cardiologist I am afraid that she will again insist in the defibrillator.

My reasons for not accepting "yet" the defibrillator are:
1) With 15 years of HBP, 4 years of angina and 44 extra pounds before my MI, NOW I feel much much better than long long time ago.
2) The only reason for the defib. recommendation is because it is said in the European Guidelines that people with low EF could benefit of it, BUT I have never had even the smaller arrhythmia, my holters are absolutely normal.
3) I am very afraid of how my mind will go with it. I think that very easily my life could change from feeling a "healthy" and happy person most of the time to feel "badly ill" depress an unhappy most of the time.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Far too many times doctors push to implant ICDs just in case, or because your EF is below a certain percentage. The bottom line, unless you really need it, why on earth would you want one, it doesn't give GPS directions, won't play music, or news, doesn't have On Star so there's no advantage having one unless your heart really needs it. Well there is the ability to dance the macarena with one, but that dance is already out of style.
Never heard of a defibrillator being used for blood pressure, new one on me. Guess I need to dig out my book on ICD's for dummies and bone up again.
Seriously, I have one, and would not recommend it unless you absolutely need it. If you have serious arrhythmias which can result in ventricular fibrillation, or are at risk of sudden cardiac arrest (or death) then you need it otherwise, save the aggravation.

Just because some criterion says you might do better with a defib - does not mean anything. When the doctors just go by some criterion then the criterion is not worth anything.
I also turned the defib down when my doctor told me i needed it in april 2008, And the doctor telling me that i could die any minute was just a scare tactic he was using - i am still fine.
I also never had any sort of AF to warrent getting a defib.

Thanks for your words, most of the time I feel very alone fighting against everybody on this issue of the defib.
