Heart attack is a serious, sudden heart condition usually characterized by varying degrees of chest pain or discomfort, weakness, sweating, nausea, vomiting, and arrhythmias, sometimes causing loss of consciousness. It occurs when the blood supply to a part of the heart is interrupted, causing death and scarring of the local heart tissue.

News form the British Heart Foundation is that they have unlocked the genetic code that will enable the heart to repair itself. There are certain animals that are able to repair their heart and, latest tests, studies and research have resulted in trials being an estimated three years away for humans.

It looks very promising. I received it in the BHF newsletter yesterday and there's a lot of info on it going into more detail. However, they are very confident. Trials on animals have taken place and they have grown new cells and cardiac repair is in progress.
