Heart Attack Support Group
Heart attack is a serious, sudden heart condition usually characterized by varying degrees of chest pain or discomfort, weakness, sweating, nausea, vomiting, and arrhythmias, sometimes causing loss of consciousness. It occurs when the blood supply to a part of the heart is interrupted, causing death and scarring of the local heart tissue.
you sound very positive and upbeat, I'm sure you will learn to ride the wave and have a quality life:)
Is it normal to have good days and bad days? I think the beta blockers mess with my mood (up and down). The first time I tried to get off (early on) I felt GREAT. But got scolded by my cardiologist so started them again...again I felt awful but this time when I tried to get off them, my heart didn't feel right (almost like anxiety)? Did you ever experience side effects when you got off. Its been 6 months since the H.A. so I am at the point where I want to decide now if I will be on them or not. I am trying a THIRD beta blocker, makes me sluggish during the day so I will try it tonight in lieu of the morning and see how that goes.
Thanks for your honesty and encouragement!
That IS really scary. The first 6 months was the worst for me (mainly due to my fears). But we do have to be wise. Remember, you can always call your cardiologist just to confirm it is normal...also the pharmacist can be a good resource bc they know what kind of withdrawals/side effects to expect from the meds. If nothing else, for peace of mind. Something else that helped me is that I expected to feel 100% the way I did before the H.A. Well, I have come to peace knowing that I may feel 75%, or 85% better and thats ok too! Just give yourself grace and permission to rest or whatever. Please keep us posted and very hopeful that you will start feeling better soon!
