Heart Attack Support Group
Heart attack is a serious, sudden heart condition usually characterized by varying degrees of chest pain or discomfort, weakness, sweating, nausea, vomiting, and arrhythmias, sometimes causing loss of consciousness. It occurs when the blood supply to a part of the heart is interrupted, causing death and scarring of the local heart tissue.
Has been 8 months since my STEMI HA. The most severe type. Had to quit a job mid-July 2012 caused by it. No Unemployment. Applied for SSI and SSDI; haven't heard from them. Tried to get help from the VA hospital for needed Rehab and echocardiogram; would have to wait 2-3 months for appointment with primary doctor, then get referral to a cardiologist. I also applied for help with my utilities last October and no response.
I will be 62 this July and can applly for early SS. In the meantime; there is a possibllity that I can return to a seasonal job in March.
I'm anxious; upset; and angry!!! If this makes any sense, grateful that I have my old 1987 motorhome, food stamps and a place in a low-rent park until the end of January. I don't know what I will do about February rent and electric.
Being grateful is the one of the reasons, along with a few friends who provide tranportation to get food and medications and the owner and office manager, that has kept my spirit and sanity intact.
I had the PCI catherization done at a non-VA hospital, which the VA paid for. I was asked to go to a VA hospital after the PCI and refused. It was 100 miles away from where I worked and was concerned if I did not get back to work I would lose my job. Was overly concerned about losing my personal possessions, and should have been more concerned about my health.
"CHOICES ARE SO DIFFICULT TO MAKE; ALL WE CAN HOPE FOR IS THAT WE MAKE THE RIGHT ONES"

I read your blogs, I had symptoms for over a year and never knew it. I had pain in shoulders, thought it was from a torn rotated cup or an old water skiing injury, it was so bad I would sleep sitting up. This went on for at least a year. I am almost at the one year mark and still not sure why it happened. I do have damage to the right side of the heart. My problem is I don't like having to take meditation.
I wish you the best in finding employment if you lived around here I would try and help. Pierre thank you for serving our country.
I guess my damage was to the Left side venticle according to where they put the first 2 stents. The other was in the right side.
I belive I will return to the place I worked where this occured in March. And your aprreciation much welcomed. Take care!
