Hi,
I am a 55 year old woman who recently suffered a moderate heart attack, with a blockage, requiring 2 stents to be put in, and I am scared to death. All I had was indigestion for a sympton, and was in pretty good shape and health. This has caused me to feel alone angry and sad. Is this normal?
Any thoughts,
Thanks,
yes you get mixed emotions alot but gradualy it goes glad to hear your ok i had a triple bypass and went through that so welcome to this group like gary says
Thank you for your support and warm welcome everyone, Now I have been told that my valve is leaking a little, as left to me in a message by my cardioligist. I don't know what this means, although he didn't tell me to come to his office, not knowing what it means is very unsettling.
sounds like we have the same cardiologist dalboni. mine told me that there are 2 arteries that are still blocked 80%.when i asked him about them he told me they are sometimes willing to lose a finger in order to save the hand.... this wasn't the doc who did my surgery but i still wonder what it means.
I just think it is so important of the cardioligist to explain, subjects such as yours and mine to avert additional stress and worry on our part because we dont understand their one sentance explanations, and feel intimidated to ask further questions.
Oh, dalboni, how you sound exactly like what I am going thru right now!!!
I had a heart attack on 4-1-09 due to toxicity from narcotics. Now I can never have another one or it will kill me. This is scary because I also suffer from a severe spinal form of RA. I had kidney failure 2 days before the heart attack.
I have been depressed, angry, feeling alone, and crying all the time. I'm told this is all normal and if I hang in there it will get better. I'm doing my best to keep my eyes on the horizon and trusting in God. I died twice but survived so I know He has a real purpose for me.
I would say yes, because I also feel that way and it's been a little over a month since I had my 3'd heart attack.
I am enraged! I quit smoking after the second one, which the cardioligist said was the cause of the first 2. that was 5 years ago! I have always been a loner but now its like I have no choice or I will explode. please stick with this group, it has helped tremendously and I just joined today.
Stressed, depressed, distressed, repressed. Bingo you nailed it. They say very normal. DS folks were a huge lifeline. I didn't need to go it alone. So, I CHOSE, not to.
Multiple blockages are normal, .>80% occlusion is common. I asked my PCP what the chances that other critical arteries were in similar shape. Seemed like a proactive approach to avoid future iasues. He said "they", whomever, they is, won't do anything until I become symtomatic. To me that was not acceptable, so I really went to town and took complete ownership for my health. I challenged the doctors and insisted on numerous proactive measures. To Include, anothe Thallium stress test, echocardiogram, doplar ecxho of main arteries, to include, femoral, carotid and descending abdominal aorta. Blood work to include cardiac profile and lipid profile.
My sister in Florida is an orthopedic surgeon. She stated, no get this, if cardiologists were to do pre emtive exams for suspect patients, they would be the most well paid in the medical profession. I did not understand her point. She eluded that cardiac workups I have indicated were elective and not essential.
That would change, of course, with the onset of cardiac symptoms. Many times it is too late. Studies indicate that MI's resulting in unconciousness have a 1 in 5 chance of survival. So I don't know where ya'll had your cardiac episodes but we are damn lucky to be here. I replaced fear, anxiety, depression and anger with a new found interest in my health. Apart from my recent relationship w/ Denise this heart issue is turnng out to be my mid-life crisis. So I am up off my ass seeing that these things happen. Much help from the man upstairs has been evident. And to add a feather to the effort, they have observed some correctible conditions, which if gone unchecked, could have become a future incident. Proactive approaches that's the ticket. At least for me. Got tired of sitting around waiting for something to happen. Additionally I became real active in daily research of my health on the internet. My gosh you hit a doctor right between the eyes when you can speak intelligently to the issues. He, I have found, is apt to work more diligently in your regard. Also, I share what I do and the results with the good peoiple onb DSS. They have become dear friends whom I can count on. If it wasn't fir them I may not have been so fortunate in the Cardio regard.

Sweetie, we all have been there before. And from time to time, we all or at least I do get that fear every so often. It is normal in my opinion. Being frightened gave me the will to live, I actually started making sure that I listen to my body and know that what ever it is saying to me I understand or get to someone who can give me the information.
Have a blessed day. I send my prayers to you and wish you many blessings
