Healthy Sex Support Group
This community is dedicated to an open discussion about healthy sex and sharing thoughts and feelings about sexuality and improving one's sex life. Most active adults desire to have an active and fulfilling sex life, both for themselves and also their partner. Here we discuss common sexual challenges faced by both men and women.
1 : the depiction of erotic behavior (as in pictures or writing) intended to cause sexual excitement
2 : material (as books or a photograph) that depicts erotic behavior and is intended to cause sexual excitement
3 : the depiction of acts in a sensational manner so as to arouse a quick intense emotional reaction
what doees it mean? hell..I dunno! Do I agree?? It does make sense...
However, I will completely agree that our society has created such a taboo on sex..that is why it is so marketable...you want what you can't have....hell, at least I know I'M not getting any ..LOL
But my way of thinking has always been that pornography would have to be visual, and produced for comecial purposes.
Written material on the other hand I would define as erotic.
Looking at other areas of DS I found that some poeple who you could regard as up tight were talking about there being pornogarphy on DS.
It dawned on me that they might be thinking of one of our friday sex romps. Now the way I defined it this material cannot be defined as pornographic because it is neither visual nor commercial. By that definition on the other hand it would be regarded as pornograpic.
Does this mean that any description of steamy sex in a popular novel is pornography?
Hell, it's just like a woman i was dating right after the stbx. All of a sudden she found "god" and dove head first into AA. We had plans for a future and then the next day she's telling me that i couldn't be in her life because i still chose to drink and was cutting loose anyone in her life that did, even long time friends.
Some people are just way too extreme.
I don't think porn is bad depending on how it is used. Married or unmarried. If it's used as an additive to a relationship then it's not bad. But if it's a necessity then I think it is bad. For example, my BIL would rather watch porn and jack off than have sex with my sister. He feels that she gained too much weight after having 2 kids and is no longer attracted to her. She is a size 3/5. He in my opinion is wrong because he uses porn in a bad way and makes my sister feel like crap about herself. Although I haven't watched in forever, my husband and I have popped in a porn before. We are in a healthy relationship that does not need porn to satisfy us. It is an additive for us.
The people that I know that are anti-porn have been hurt by it in some way. Through a lover or parents. Some parents don't teach their kids right from wrong about sex, they scare them They tell them that it's bad and that watching porn is bad. So they grow up with that mentality.
I think it all comes down to how it's used, how it's presented and how you were raised.
It's just a very personal, emotional judgement for me - does something depress me to read or look at, or does it make me feel moved in some way? I've even seen the occasional photo in a tacky 'top shelf' mag that interests me, if I get the feeling that the couple are genuinely into each other.
Anyone else remember Bill Hicks' definition of porn? No artistic merit, causes sexual thoughts ......... just like every advert you see :)
I see this a lot in my daily life...!!!!!
1. when it is watched by under aged children.
2. Is used in a mariage or relationship as an alternative to sex to deny the partner sex as suggested by here4fun.
3. or becomes an addiction where people are neglecting their responsabilities due to the amount of time watching porn.
I also think it is not a good idea for young adults to get too heavily into it because it might divert them from persuing a healthy relationship but I wouldn't make a rule out of this.
In tha end I believe the problem is of society's making, that by demonising sex and not being open to people freely discussing sex.
I think things are changing, many magazines openly discuss sex today and people are becoming generally less inhibited about talking about it.
I also believe that many churches today have made great strides in casting off many of the negative connotations of sex.
The biggest problem about sex is ignorance but slowly this ignorance is being reduced.
If my wife was willing to do this (which she wouldn't be of course) I would make a pornographic movie for free distribution although I would prefer to call it a love making movie.
The thing I don't like is the comercialisation but as others have said this is driven by society's attitude.
I may be a dreamer but I'm not the only one, oh there again maybe I am, do I have any supporters out there?
That's what I... believe.....Sex is an instinct ....wouldn't it be great if we could just all live the way animals do......they don't run around abusing each other....they treat mateing naturally.......
People started wearing clothes primarily for protection from the cold beacuse they were living in nothern.
I would be in favor however of having 50% of beaches nude, mixed changing rooms at gyms and swiming pools, 50% of hotels alowing nudity and nudity in all homes except where there were young children. There must be loads of other stuff but you get where I am coming from.
One time I had a sauna in slovacia and they told me, 'it is mixed is that ok', I said 'yes'.
Women and men we all went in the sauna and the hot tub and laid around in recliners with no sexual inuendo whatsoever, people just enjoyed looking at each others bodies no matter how young or old people were.
I can tell you that this was a very nice and liberating experience.
Merely a picture of a woman's naked form would not be considered porn as long as it is subtly and tastefully lit and genitalia are not clearly exposed.
