Healthy Sex Support Group
This community is dedicated to an open discussion about healthy sex and sharing thoughts and feelings about sexuality and improving one's sex life. Most active adults desire to have an active and fulfilling sex life, both for themselves and also their partner. Here we discuss common sexual challenges faced by both men and women.
Men have a very high probability of achieving orgasm in their first sexual encounter with a given woman. Women, not nearly as high. Between the stress of the situation and the man's lack of knowledge about our individual sexual natures, a woman has a significantly lower expectation of reward from an initial sexual encounter.
And, while the expectation of reward is lower for us, the possible risks are greater. In addition to STDs, there is a much greater risk of male-on-female stalking or sexual assault than of female-on-male. And men can't get pregnant.
Girls love to have fun, too. But even when I'd decide that I'd be willing to sleep with a guy, I'd wait to develop a real relationship with him, so I could expect subsequent, more likely to be rewarding, sexual encounters, and o I'd be able to judge the risk of dangerous behavior on his part.
it does seem... somewhat hypocritical (right word?) of society to judge men as the horny do-anybody members... yet it is often said (and I don't know that it is true, but for the sake of the argument, society seems to believe it) that women make the decision within the first 5 minutes of meeting a man... and seriously, how much can you know about a person in 5 minutes? How is this different?
the older I get, the more I think the gender differences are forced on us largely by society or different socially driven interpretations of the same feelings and drives.
(gets off soapbox AGAIN)
What made these women " drop their panties"? Lol
I believe it is knowing that while we were the weaker gender, we had the same rights to be sexual because it is normal and appropriate.
Whether people chose to sleep around or not it was a personal choice.
As a grown adult woman, I just WANT some.
That's just my short and not very well thought out response as I have to rush back to work now!!!
now bedhog you said you wanted some..... look no further! :)
I personally do not want to be stuck in a situation where i am suddenly pregnant and walked out on (which happened. good luck or bad luck depending on how you look at it, i had a miscarriage.) to figure out how to care for a child by myself, how to explain that their father wanted nothing to do with them, and a lack of medical history.
i also do not want to end up in a situation with an STD where i have to make phone calls to people to let them know they need to get checked. again, no thank you!
PLUS, when you make guys wait a bit, they are more passionate. when you let them in right away, they tend to just want to hit it. you give them a bit at a time and they are all over you in every way possible when the time comes.
now, that being said, i went against all of this when my husband and i met. we talked off and on online for a few years, but nothing serious. he emailed me his phone number, we stayed up all night talking, met the next day, the day after that we STARTED to have sex and HE actually stopped. he flat out said, "would you be mad if i said i didn't want to do this? i have had a lot of 1 night stands and i dont want you to be another one of them." What a lot of good it did though. We had sex the day after that and happened to get pregnant at the same time. We had been dating a little over a month when we found out we were pregnant with our daughter. We moved in with each other a week later. Yeah, we rushed things. i am amazed that things have turned out as well as they have.
i suppose you might be correct that i'll know within a certain amount of time if i want to further get to know someone...but as far as sex goes, it couldn't be a decision made just at the drop of a hat.
I personally haven't found it true that if you have sex right away that the guys are less passionate.
For me, I don't believe in developing a relationship to the point of having feelings for the guy and becoming emotionally attached to the guy before having sex. To difficult to call it quits when feelings are attached if I find we're not sexually compatible and we're not going to ever be sexually compatible. What can I say, I wouldn't be happy in a relationship without my kinks no matter how good the rest of the relationship might be and I won't give up what I like.
