My husband is almost 10 years older than me.

How is it working out? Quite well, actually. We just celebrated our fifth anniversary with a wonderful time in a little mountain town, we've got two adorable babies, and the most passionate argument we've had lately was GWU Superfriends or GUB Legion of Doom (still unresolved, but Superfriends is still right).

Long range plan? Raise a family and grow old together ^_^

How did we meet? He's a professor at the college I went to. Nothing untoward there, though, I never took any classes in his department, much less from him.

Is the relationship equal? What does that mean? My happiness is every bit as important as his. There's no question who's in charge, though. He is the head of our home. I expect him to lead, and he expects me to follow.

Thank you all for your responses. I personally don't consider an age gap of 10 or fewer years much of a gap at all unless both partners are very young.

Our age gap is greater than 20 years.

Oddly, we do have a lot in common and enjoy each other's company very much. We also have a lot of differences that are largely age related.

It's an interesting journey for sure.

I met her when I was teaching her son. It was very conservative and professional at first where we talked about helping her son learn, then she offered to help me correct papers. After the school year, I knew she really liked me. She got me a job where she worked (a better paying hospital job, believe it or not!) and then relationship faded away & we stopped seeing each other.
But then in 2010, after I was divorced I thought it was high time we get back together and I am truly grateful.
She's so caring, wonderful, thoughtful.just a great human being. She doesn't act older than me. Usually I have an "older mindset", lol.
But what I have looked for in a woman is someone who is a calming prescence. She doesn't have to be thin, she doesn't have to be smoking hot. I really have wanted someone who has a great personality, and my current girlfriend really has that !
I could most definitely see us being together til death do us part.

I had a relationship with a woman who was 18 years younger than me.
She was from Russia , spoke 4 languages , and was very intelligent. I
finally ended it because she was too critical of America and American men..not me specifically, just a general attitude about how Russian men
did this or that better than Americans. I would have ended it sooner but the sex was great and she was very attractive. I never asked her "if Russians are so great , why are you here?" , but I thought it often.
