Last nite i was just channel surfing and happened upon TLC and found a show called "The man whose arms exploded" it's a documentary about steroid use and abuse and is cetnered around Greg Valentino, a huge freak and known abuser (google it if you want to see pics, disturbing)
ANYHOO.....i'm in the gym this morning and it happened to be triceps day. My first exercise is almost always close grip bench preses on the smith machine cause i go very heavy, ending up with 340# @ 6 reps. Between sets i notice some guy that i've never seen in there at that time looking at me. Well, i am kinda used to this so i just throw my usual nod and brush it off.
My workout takes about a half hour and every now and then i notice this guy keeps watching me. So i get done and go do my cardio and when i'm done with that i'm halfway to the locker room when this guy just up and comes in front of me and blatantly asks what steroids i'm taking because there was no way in hell i could be this size naturally!
So i let out a little chuckle and my olg gym shirt comes to mind with the saying "No, i'm not on steroids, but thanks for asking!" Except this guy is serious and is now telling me that guys like myself and Greg Valentino are a disgrace to the sport.
I asked him if he had seen that show i had mentioned and of course, oddly enuf,..that's where he got his info lol So i simply told him not to include me with guys like him and that i was all natural and walked away.
First of all, if you look at Valentino ijn that show, it's clearly abuse and not actual muscle, hell, it doesn't even LOOK like real arms! Then to claim that MY arms are so big because i must be doing the same thing!
Now this is the first time i've ever been confronted, let alone accussed of something blatant like this in any of my gyms, i just thought this guy had some nerve to do it! AND, unfortunately, when guys like me are walking around in the gyms amongst general fitness trainers, we get used to the looks and SOME comments from idiots!
Yes, it's quite a pet peeve of mine lol
I would be a REAL asshole if i didn't :(
Good idea Kool...cause i actually have chased guys down to go back and return their weights or empty a machine :)
