Definitely not a bar.
I would say a bookstore, coffeehouse, library. Somewhere that it would be easy to strike up a conversation.

I would agree NOT a bar! I have never really gone out looking to be honest...love always seemed to find me! Mostly work romanances.

i hate to keep referring to the bible because sometimes the wisdom of that ancient writing is not always well recieved. however, in two of the synoptic gospels, Jesus makes the statement,(and i am taking it out of context, but in this case, it stands alone), where your treasure is, that is where your heart is... and by the way, that is paraphrased.

with that said, if your life is in the bar, then by all means look for a spouse, mate, significant other in a bar. if your life is in the church then look there. you need to look where you are...to do otherwise will invite a partner into your life that has opposite beliefs and idealogies that at first may seem no problem, but in time they will irritate you and then you will live the adage, "marry in haste, repent in leisure"

Keep an open mind, because you never know where they will show up. I met my husband at a friend's house, and at the time, I found him quite obnoxious. They were room-mates, Her and her husband, and my husband. After many calls to talk with my friend, and she was not there, I began getting to know this not quite as obnoxious as I thought person. We had 1 date, I spent the night (no sex, really) two days later, and married him 3 months later. 23 years and counting!!!

I would agree...i don't think you should look in a bar but i think in a more friendly public place such as the list that jayden6 gave you...Or if you do attend church there are a lot of nice men that are single and go to church(at least in my church there are)!

You don't 'look', it's my experience that these things just "happen" when you leact expect them to.

In the beginning I though I wanted to meet new people but I've decided that relationships take too much too time and trouble and I've become selfish so now I its hard to imagine compromising for anyone.

But many folks do it and you know it does take hard work, communication and compromise.

I think it dose not really take work. I think it just comes naturally. I think that compromise may be a place where people say it takes work, then I guess that may be it. But in the words of Gov. Mike Huckabee, marriage isn't 50-50, it is 100-100. When both give 100% nobody gets cheated.

i dont look for one but we became an item after a picnic by waterfall... and that remain our sweetest place till now (and forever i hope)
