I am not a master mechanic. I can change a battery, tires, alternator, and break pads and I am usually watching a you tube video to make sure that I did it right.
Unfortunately some men have interiority issue when it comes to strong women. Not all man are so shallow. My last girlfriend was practically a mechanic. I still call her if I can't figure out what's wrong with my car.
I don't take it for real or seriously...it's all pretty entertaining, whatever the side people fall on.
Sometimes I just say.....WOW.
Then I consider what passes for entertainment and all the messaging and social conditioning in our society.
Truth is I have no clue what goes through most peoples' minds, but I do believe it's very easy to get caught up in all the messaging and social conditioning. To incorporate some of those 'truths' into an 'identity'.
Lately I've been more interested in unlearning than learning. Sitting quietly in awareness and simply observing both the external and internal noise. Recognizing the noise as a distraction that simply passes if I don't latch onto it.
Don't trust the board to be a bellwether for what men want. For some of us, our dream girl consists of someone kind, thoughtful, considerate, gainfully employed, or in the process of becoming so, with some ambition to do something more than lay around the house. If she happens to be attractive, so much the better. But we don't all want stick figures...
This one man, and a couple of them that voiced similar opinions (I didn't read the whole originating thread, but your reaction indicates there was some kind of condescension on the topic) does not, and do not speak for all men.
I don't even think they speak for the majority of men.
Many men regurgitate (yuck) what they think they are supposed to say as per the media's programing of them, and I don't think you can trust what they say. It isn't that they are lying, per-say, more that they aren't really in touch with themselves... another side affect of male media programing, sadly.
I think most men in reality fall into the same category I do. I need a minimum level of attractiveness (you might call it Darwinian) and the rest of personality, intelligence, capability...etc...
So: recap:
size 10/12: Typically sexy. I'm not into 10 year old boys. I like women to look like women.
bench press 100 lbs: Sexy. I like strong women, most men that I have known do also.
wrenching: Also sexy. I have always liked my women to be capable.
In my personal life the only men I've met that seemed to like the "daisy duke twiggy helpless moron" had something seriously wrong with them and were not at all the type I could see you wanting. Many others that claimed to, later recanted and I believe they were just saying what they thought they were supposed to.
I didn't see anything about an 8" penis, gladly.
I personally don't think it is OK to cheat. Two (or more, possibly) people in a relationship define their own terms and rules... but then again if the relationship is open, then "straying" isn't really cheating, is it... so NO, cheating isn't OK.
And since when men don't like curves?? Curves is where it's at! :)
LOL
P.S. Dave - You are seriously such a great addition to this board and I adore your perspective on topics relating to gender and equality/image.
I've learned that if you don't agree completely with the popular kids, you get ignored.
And I've learned that when you have a real fucking problem? Nobody gives a rats ass, unless you pay homage to those that feel that they're popular Or it has to do with getting laid. Or not getting laid.
