The guy pull back/feeling a bit foolish

I've dealt with it before with my late husband many times. Forgot all about it until now and if I had my choice I would never have to deal with it. For the ladies who don't know what I am talking about good I hope you never have to deal with it it but Ill explain. Scenario's different but their action are usually the same. The guy who always called you starts not calling as much or might not see you as much that week. It might go on for a few days or even a few weeks. Now this is not to be confused with the man who disappears and does not call for 2 weeks or suddenly cancels plans but has no good excuse or tries to be secretive all of the sudden.
Now for my scenario the BF was laid off a month and just got called back. He has a very hard job. In a matter of days he went from a guy who would call and we talk for hours some days to if I hear from him for 5 minutes I am lucky. He told me he was overwhelmed it felt like everyone wanted something from him all of the sudden. He told me he has his sister that is calling him because she needs him, he has another guy bugging him about his music, and he says he is starting to feel like if he doesn't call me or come see me at a certain time he will get in trouble. He said all he wants to do right now is stay in his man cave/room and do nothing and talk to no one. Not me, not his sister, not anyone at all. He made his needs very clear. So of coarse what do I do the first couple of days this happens. I panic think I did something wrong,I call more, ask questions like is everything ok. Funny thing is I know better I just forgot. Talking to a guy friend of mine yesterday and hes like let me get this straight. The man tells you he loves you, he tells you he is overwhelmed, hes not going out but to do what he has to, tells you its not just you its everyone he doesn't want to talk to. So instead of doing as he asked and giving him room to breathe you call him and keep asking if everything is OK, why hasn't he called etc. Then he says damn and woman say we are hard to understand. Of coarse he then followed it up with jokes like hmm so you need some room to breathe come here and let me hug you. When it was put that was I felt a little foolish. Taking a step back and looking at it its not really that complicated. The man needs his space and I need to give it to him. That's exactly what he will get. I wont call Ill leave it up to him. He will have more than he can handle :). Not exactly as easy to do as it is to say it though. If it continues on like this for a long extended time then of coarse I will just cut my losses and move on but history has shown me with the late husband it usually does not last long. Brings me to my question. I am feeling a little foolish because I am not a kid anymore and I should have known better than to keep calling and asking are you OK. Any one else ever do something then have a DUH what the heck am I doing I know better moment.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
We all make mistakes. Don't best yourself up. When you talk to your guy, don't apologize for being anxious, apologize for not listening..
There are people who needs space when they are stressed, I'm not one of those people - I feel better being around friends and family - but I get the concept.
And yes, I have done this - not really listened to what the person was saying.
