Sort of a Break??

My SO and I have been together for almost seven years. We have a three year old daughter and own a home. For the last three years our relationship has been in a steady downward spiral. Our daughter was somewhat planned.....after we stopped trying I got pregnant, but it seems like then and there is when we started to fall apart.

After so long feeling angry and upset all the time I decided I couldn't do it anymore. Now, I am the stay at home parent. I do some babysitting to supplement our income but I do not have enough money to move out at the moment. He and our daughter are gone for the weekend, and I informed him before they left that I would be moving into the guest room.

I just finished moving all my belongings into the other room. Now, my question is....has anyone had a 'break' wether it be permenantly or not that occured while you lived under the same roof? It's not like he treats me like a spouse, so I don't really have to worry about the sexual aspect...and he doesn't show any affection whatsoever anymore. And if it turns into a permenant thing I WILL be moving out, I am just going to have to alter my life style and save up.

I'm worried he won't take me seriously, but there really is no where else for me to go right now. The guest room is as far as I can seperate myself! Plus, I am going to stop doing his laundry, his dishes, cooking for him, cleaning for him. I will care for our daughter and myself....as if we are room mates.

Stbxh and I live together as roommates/friends and have been for 6 years. We get along well so when we decided to split up, we decided we'd stay legally married, continue living together as roomates until it could be a win-win situation for us financially but live our own lives, do our own thing.....an open relationship of sorts.

I've been in a LDR for 5 years and will be moving to NC to be with my partner soon. Stbxh knows I travel all the time to see my partner, partner knows my living situation with Stbxh and it works well for all involved.

Yes I have and it had to be one of the most awkward times of my life. It was also for financial reasons but still we were tied together with bills and things.

Are you guys married? Can you/have you tried counseling together?

I tried it years ago with a fiance I had. It was the beginning of the end so to speak for our relationship. We had been together about 2 years at the time of the break. The break lasted a couple of weeks in May; he wanted time to figure things out before we got married. He ended the break because he said he knew he wanted to be with me and he had figured things out. The following January he wanted another break to figure himself out. I told him this one was for good and left him. We kept in touch after that even after me marrying someone else and having a child, a few times a year via phone or email. We met once when he was in the area for business. A couple years back, he said he was getting deployed overseas (army). I never heard from him again. Often wonder if he died over there. I do think the break in May helped to prepare at least me for the final break up the following January. Wishing you the best.
