If he's inconsistant, vague, seems to have a wall built around him, can't communicate openly, says something but doesn't follow through with action, those are all red flags to me.
Talking negatively about previous partners
Disrespecting waiters / bar staff
Unreliability
Jealousy
conversations only by text
never calls just to chat (you have to get to know me better somehow)
has no other interests
doesn't go out much with his own friends
too many partners
poor relationship with own children
poor relationship with own parents
not working
I have to agree with Aronia; I have learned that family relationships can tell a whole lot about a person's character.
Case in point; four out of four of my past partners had bad relationships with their children! I wish I'd know about this RED flag before...
PS: my current SO enjoys spending time with his family...
Primarily texts (can't hold a real adult conversation)
Inconsistencies (lying is a deal breaker)
Too many things in common (I call this the "yeah, me too's!" as in, he's trying to fake commonalities with you.)
Refusal to bring u around his friends...further down the road family.
Always hanging out with the "boys" drinking at clubs..
Basically still behaving like a single man/woman even tho in a relationship.
Mean to animals.
Not having the same morals...(he does drugs or lives a shady life)
If u feel like he is a fixed upper...
Hope that helps.
He tries to "fix" you... I don't need a therapist, I don't need a doctor. I already have both. So please don't tell me how to "fix" my PTSD!
I think it depends a lot on the kind of relationship you are looking for. The deal breakers for an 18 year old who will move out of town soon to go to college half way across the country are different than the deal breakers for a 45 year old divorce' with three kids.
I suggest you write a list, and then try to limit the deal breakers as much as you can so yu end up with the absolute deal breakers.
One last thing: avoid parallysis by over-analysis!
But there are things I know I need to have. I need to have a certain level of conversation and attention in a relationship. If I start dating a man and he only texts me a few times a week and hardly ever calls to talk on the phone, I know he's not the guy for me. If I wanted a man to ignore me I would have stayed married to my ex-husband.
There are many valid reasons for the redflags listed here.
