I like a message where I can tell that he actually read my profile.
He makes comments about things I said or things I like etc...

I would get a lot of emails from guys that would just say "You're cute" or "I love your pics" or something that let me know he was only interested in how I look.

I also don't like it when I guy emails me right away with his phone number! NO! Big red flag for me! Then I wonder how many other women he just threw his number to.

Also NO shirtless photos....Ugh! I don't care if you have an awesome BODY if it a huge turn off to me to see guys post that kind of pic.

I like something that makes me laugh. My current boyfriend sent me a really thoughtful, funny message. I mentioned in my profile that I'm verbose, and he said that word has too much of a negative connotation. He suggested that loquacious or thorough would be a better description because my writing has content and purpose and was interesting to read. He noticed something special about what I wrote, commented, and did it in a funny and smart way. That continued throughout our interactions.

I agree with onetoomany...actually send a message that says more than "you are pretty". Read the woman's profile and ask questions or comment on something you have in common.

Onetoomany - yes! I'm just a laidback guy equates to "I will put in zero effort and can't be bothered when shit gets real. I probably run from conflict and, therefore, I am laid back"

I didn't think about the laid back comment till now, but you are so right. Laid back sometimes means lazy in a relationship.
And if you have to tell me you are honest then you probably aren't. Be honest with a woman with what you are looking for. If you post on your profile you aren't looking for one night stands, then don't ask them to just hook up with you.
