I dont personally believe in ending a relationship over mental illness. I feel that you promised to be there with them through the good and bad as a partner, and getting through an illness may be tough, but it is something they need you by their side for. What if you were the sick one?
Ontop of that, you have children together, what message would that send to them about people with mental illness?
Granted, there are cases where there is no other choice, especially if it is affecting your children to a point that they are deoming severely damaged.
Is he recieving treatment? What do you do to help him in his illness? What roads are there for you to explore together that you havent already?
Exaust ALL possible options (his cooperation permitting) before throwing in the towel. youd want that from him, wouldnt you?
I'm pretty sure there is a group here for it.. at least a Personality Disorders group. They may be able to give you some guidance as well :)
