I am hopelessly single which is due to my social anxiety. I have a hard time meeting people in general because I just don't think I am good enough for anyone.
Someone suggested online dating to me to get out and have some fun and that idea appealed to me, but it also terrifies me again because I don't feel like I'm good enough.
I don't have a job (although I am in school). I don't have any friends. I don't have any family except for my mother who is currently in a nursing home. I suffer from severe depression and anxiety. I may eventually lose my house.
I feel like all of this would send any man running for the hills and no one would be interested in me. I have a friend who is active on dating sites, yet receives little to no interest from anyone. I am terrified this will happen to me.
I guess I am wondering am I good enough? Is it possible for someone to be interested in me? My head tells me no one would ever be interested, yet I know there are worse human beings than me in relationships. At least I'm loving, caring, faithful, etc.
I don't know. I don't even know why I am writing this. Maybe I am just looking for a little encouragement. All I know is I'd like to be able to meet people and eventually find a long term relationship.

Hey All...I hope that you have a lovely, peaceful beginning of your weekI have a bunch of chores that need doing but may put them off til tomorrow and just hang out with my landlord/roomie todayWhat about you?...Anything special going on?Have a great day and take good care of you!!..Xo

While anxiety and depression are real problems, you are not much different from other people in a sense that everyone has some crap that they have to deal with. At least you are diagnosed. There are people walking around off the handle and not seeking help.
So, don't feel like you are less than something.
Not having any friends is a tough one, because forming non-romantic Relarionships with people can give you good practice in how to form romantic ones.
Do you not have friends by choice or are you struggling on that front as well?
Hope things get better for you.
Hugs
Are your conditions under control and well managed? Dating with unmanaged depression is a bad idea.
But if they are, try it. Okcupid is a good place to start. You will find a variety of guys on there. Some will be worth a shot but be choosy. Don't worry about not getting messages. You could look like the wicked witch and get messages and I doubt you do lol.
I agree that of course you're good enough... Big hug...x
LivingWater - I definitely want to avoid the players and creeps. I would like someone who can be as loving and faithful as I am.
soulsearcher - Unfortunately my depression is not well managed at the moment. Sometimes I think dating shouldn't be a priority for me, but it also gets lonely. It's hard to know what is right sometimes. I know I don't want to spring a bunch of baggage on someone.
koolman - Thank you. You are right and I am looking into that. I am studying web development. I'll probably have a couple of more years to go as long as life's circumstances don't get in the way.
SunCloudJD - I am in therapy, but it hasn't really helped with my self esteem issues thus far. Thank you. Big hugs to you!
i understand completely. i am slowly building confidence but i also suffer PTSD, severe anxiety and depression. You are good enough and worthy enough. it is a matter of finding the right person for you when you feel you are ready.
i need to take my own advice here and say not to worry too much about meeting someone, focus on you and the right things will happen. depression and anxiety makes everything worse. Have you tried daily affirmations?
Good luck
A better you is a stronger daughter for your Mom as well.
I agree with Cali, too. As far as "social" stuff goes, I would get out and find buddies first. Having people to turn to, have fun with, etc will be an outlet that helps you tremendously.
I understand wanting a romantic partner, but let your healing happen first. The romance can fall into place later, because you will (like someone else said ) "advertise" your good traits, naturally, once it does.
