Are there other people who you can lean on by phone? I called my siblings today and it helped a lot.
With my husband I have to really call his attention to when I need him emotionally and get very specific like "I need a hug." Or "I'm not okay dear." It's aggravating sometimes and it makes me feel weird but sometimes I just have to shake him out of his own world.
*hugs*
His way of handling it may be to feel some anger and yours is through letting the pain out in tears
It would be really strange if these things weren't happening in homes.... We're all having some anxiety
Now we're only watching the news about half hour a day … It's all I can handle
Why not say this to him...." Right now we're ignoring each other and it's not helpful can we talk??"
Perhaps try and think about doing some things together to lighten the day a little??
Exercise indoors.... play cards or board games.... light of heart films or shows.... You can take virtual tours in museums or a meditation on youtube
Big hug.... It's also good that you can let out how you're feeling..... xo
Right now both my husband and I are working from home. We live in an apartment although it has two bedrooms so the space helps. He is not having an issue with us being together all the time but I am. So I just have to set really clear boundaries with him, like this is my schedule during the day, this is when I’m going to eat lunch, this is when I’m going to go get the mail, etc. if I didn’t do that he’d be talking to me constantly and interrupting me. That stresses me out more than the actual pandemic.
My point is in these circumstances you just have to adapt and change a bit in order to keep your sanity and protect the relationship. I also really miss going to the office and seeing my team and coworkers. We do a lot of video meetings and touch bases. That really helps. We did a virtual happy hour on Monday after work. Get creative and stay engaged.
just be easy on your self and each other and find things to do that help bring a smile and at least forget the insanity of the world for a moment. watch an inspirational you-tube video, watch a comedy, or anything to keep your mind of the negative and its possible that you could be well on your way to helping him feel like you both can count on each other for support.
