Healthy Relationships Support Group
No relationship is perfect. A long-term relationship requires constant effort to understand each other, fix misunderstandings, solve problems and continue to grow as both individuals change and evolve. How we deal with our misunderstandings is the focus of this community. Join us to find support, get advice, and share your experience with your relationship.
How is the rest of the marriage? Your lives?
(If he's work 842 hours a week...there will be things that there aren't time for.)
Have you sat down and had an in depth talk with him? Or would he be willing to go to marriage counseling?
The decision for how important it is...is really yours. For some, marriage is an important lifetime commitment, and for others, that could be a deal breaker. Then there are kids, finances, extended family.
And the grass isn't always greener. Everyone always thinks that they'll find someone perfect...few actually do.
Again, I have no answers, but you have my support as you work it out just how important this is to you.
I'll second the notion that the sum of the relationship counts. There is no such thing as a perfect relationship and if the rest of the relationship outweighs this one piece, the next question might be, "How important is it?" Is it important enough to throw away the entire relationship for? Only you can decide that one.
Keep venting, Justlost. Brutal honest allowed. At the very least, venting it out will help you sort the riff from the raff while keeping the accumulated stresses from eating holes in your soul.
Gentle support while you sort.
