I am wondering why do you feel that your partner has a responsiblity to take you on as a complete dependent ?
This is not how it works at all.
In order to have a man who helps you, you need to be able to help him too , you need to stand on your own two feet and have a job or at least go to school and have some sort of a life outside of the relationship.
What can YOU offer this man? Can you take care of him?
A partnership is usually an uquality thing, give and take. You both need to bring something to the table. He doesn't have to support you nor put a roof over your head. You're responsible for yourself.
Get yourself set up and you'll be happier.
Is the two weeks of silence weird? Out of behaviour?
Are you in school?
I agree with the others he does not owe you anything.
And you need to support each other.
I think its very unfair to expect someone to take care of you, especially when not married.
You have to be able to do something to contribute to the home, a relationship is a PARTNERSHIP.
I somewhat empathize with you, to a degree, because I have a chronic illness that will likely cause me to become disabled later in life. Fiancee has been educated about my disease and we have discussed what our future might be like financially, since I wont be able to work. My solution is to put more into my 401K now, so I can use it when I need to (I will probably never actually retire).
What is your back up plan?
What would happen if your boyfriend did agree to support you, and then you two broke up? You have to be capable of some form of independence, because you are the only person you KNOW you can rely on for life.
