Healthy Relationships Support Group
No relationship is perfect. A long-term relationship requires constant effort to understand each other, fix misunderstandings, solve problems and continue to grow as both individuals change and evolve. How we deal with our misunderstandings is the focus of this community. Join us to find support, get advice, and share your experience with your relationship.
The important thing is that you are honest with yourself and her regarding your feelings and if you can allow yourself to just be friends with her. If you are in doubt about that then let her know and take some time to sort out your feelings and perhaps that might mean not seeing or talking to her for awhile. If she wants to be a good friend to you she will respect your wishes but she needs to know how you feel so I hope that you do let her know.
Also I would recommend you know exactly what her intentions are as well, meaning what a friendship means to her so things do not get confusing later on if suddenly she wants a romantic relationship with you. I hope this helps a bit for you and you can work something out that can make you comfortable and happy. Wishing you all the best:)
Then she tells you she lied about the married lawyer (which I don't believe for one minute), and because she is crying and claims she needs help, you are ready to give her another chance.
Then you say you are going to basically just keep her on a string, a friend-with-benefits, while you date other women. And how is this not abusing her? Just because you don't hit her, doesn't make you any less of an abuser. You are an emotional abuser.
I'm beginning to think you both were made for each other.
You guys are just playing a game of teeter-totter or tag. Pull away, she comes closer, get too close, she pulls away. Lather, rinse, repeat. That's fine if you want to continue to play games. But if you want a real, mature, "grown-up" relationship, you are not going to that. You two are playing childish games with each other. Not much maturity found on playgrounds, it there?
I also have to concentrate on getting my health back. That will allow me to not spend so much time alone and will be able to choose better, and not be so dependent on her.
