online dating can be really difficult. you have to try to convince someone you are worth dating without even getting to show them how great you are. so they can judge you really quickly without even knowing anything. another thought is that if they find someone else they are interested, they might ignore everyone else.
i much prefer meeting people in person, but i understand that can be difficult sometimes.
the only advice i really have for this is to contact everyone you find an interest in. don;t focus on any one person until you've met them. if you are just casually messaging people, it won;t feel like rejection if they don't respond or something. it shouldn't, because these people don't know you. then when you weed out the people who don;t respond or aren;t what you are looking for, you can start building friendships and relationships.
i really hope this works out for you! i know a lot of people who have had success with online dating.
Go up and try to begin a conversation, in person, with the first woman who gleams your eye. Your warmth, your smile, your sex appeal, will gleam through better in person.
They discourage "dating" at meetup; they say it's just a place for people to make friends, but people date from there anyway.
Not only do you instantly have something in common with the other people in the group (you're all there because you share the same interest, like doing the same thing together), but you can instantly tell if someone takes a liking to you, the gleam in the eye, the stimulation in the conversation, without the back-and-forth of writing endless messages in "online dating" in the hopes that someone will want to meet up with you.
Is it polite, no. Are they possibly overlooking a diamond in the rough, yes. But it is what it is.
I didn't care for online dating either. I do meetups, but I have not really dated anyone I met there. It's way better than just going to bars. The thing about going out to bars is you got to find someone to go with. All my friends are married and have no business going out like that just so I can find someone LOL. I think it would make me look creepy if I went alone.
Oh and I want to add that if people didn't fit my criteria I just didn't try to get to know them. For instance if they were not even in my state, over 6 years older than me. You may not be within what they are looking for. Don't let it make you feel bad.
Face it, those messages are essentially spam. You are trying to get her to buy what you are selling; YOU! If the woman has attracted your attention, she has likely attracted attention from dozens, possibly hundreds of other guys who are also sending her their spam. So, how do you get her to open YOUR message?
Make sure your subject line stands out. Reference something personal from her profile or ask a leading question. Be scandalous! Make her curious and she'll open your PROFILE to decide if she opens your message. Generic, boring subject lines like "Hi" and "Hello" get deleted unread even when the profile is attractive.
The women will read your profile first and use that impression to help them decide whether to open your personal message. Make sure your profile is interesting, attractive and contains flattering pictures of you. Again, be a little scandalous, make her curious, make her want to know more about the guy behind the profile.
Don't get discouraged. It's a competition with lots of guys trying to get the ladies attention. It's also a numbers game. The more messages you send, the better your odds of finding a buyer. Keep plugging away!
Courtesy suggests that members update their status if they are dating someone exclusively but not all members follow that protocol.
Good luck to you-
Today because of how much information we have at our fingertips we find many people are low in manners and high in standards (they set for themselves) because it's so easy to go onto the next.
These same people end up complaining that they don't have anybody worthy enough to have a long term relationship with.
I'd say just ignore them, like a person who goes on a date and is on their blackberry all night, or a person who refuses to use the basics of please and thank you, the world will never be short of self absorbed losers.
