I think the type of woman who likes that stuff falls under the Gift receiver in the 5 languages of love. Here is the definition.
Receiving Gifts
Dont mistake this love language for materialism; the receiver of gifts thrives on the love, thoughtfulness, and effort behind the gift. If you speak this language, the perfect gift or gesture shows that you are known, you are cared for, and you are prized above whatever was sacrificed to bring the gift to you. A missed birthday, anniversary, or a hasty, thoughtless gift would be disastrousso would the absence of everyday gestures
I'm with you! Seems a lot of greed, lust and materialism, romance based solely on looks. That's TV!
I suggest you go for a country gal who is a bit more tom-boyish but is still in good shape and knows how to take care of herself, not so girly-girly like the dolled-up ladies with their makeup and cosmetic enhancements on these TV shows.
If you're down on yourself for not being able to measure up to these chiselled, handsome dudes, gotta take a look at the ladies you're attracted to, and readjust your tastes in ladies to be a little more realistic, and, frankly, more suitable, for yourself. If you're a "hick", you wouldn't be happy with a girly-girl who just likes to sit there and look pretty anyway. Face it, you'd get bored. Intellectual tom-boys who like to breathe fresh country air and exercise are better.
For me, i'm very simple. I don't want a man to go over the top. Don't get me wrong, i'm very girly and I love when a man will show his affection through doing things for me and the things he gives me. But if he were going to pro

Don't get me wrong, i'm very girly and I love when a man will show his affection through doing things for me and the things he gives me. But if he were going to propose: A romantic rooftop dinner, getting down on one knee, and having that crooked little smile on his face would do me just fine.
You don't want a gal who needs snow at her proposal in the summer and a lot of gals don't want to look super sexy 24 hours a day. Seriously, find a woman you click with and the proposal and how you do it will take care of itself.
My husband proposed via M&M (yes, the candy) during a sunset in his hometown. It was perfect.
Not that the future has to suck at 50+, but it certainly has to be down-sized and scaled down to TODAY. The future has already arrived.
I just look at this phenomenon from the outside, I have 3 sons, 1 married, the other getting married next year, with all the hoopla and sensationalism. The youngest, I fear, is being duped into the notion that whatever he does regarding females, his ideas of romance are simply inadequate.
I could care less about the pomp and circumstances involved with proposals or marriage. Never going to bite that bullet again.
Same with Men they see the Kardashians on TV and think all women should have a fat @$$ just like them..But some men never look for the inner beauty of a woman and they end up with these B!%(#@$ that are so vain, high maintanance and wonder why they can't keep them or nobody wants them!!! But for the most of the men they are level headed and realize a average girl is more treasurable!
Compared to the ideals and fantasies of the Kardashians and the bevy of ladies we see on these marriage proposal TV shows, yeah, your younger son's country romantic sensibilities will never measure up.
But I'm sure he can meet some sweet southern belle who enjoys a good horse ride and picnic at the park for $10! Surely there are plenty of them around, who will simply appreciate the sweetness and kindness of his company!
Just true honest feelings is what is important. How many of these big to dos end in a happy and lasting marriage? These reality shows aren't reality at all, life is not like that- well at least not for the majority of people on earth. We don't have helicopters flying us over to a private island for lunch and all that hoo ha. That's not romance that's all made up hollywood drama. They are SELLING us something- a fantasy maybe? It's supposed to look romantic but what is romantic about all they are doing while being followed around be a camera crew? How can these people be experiencing true and honest feelings when they aren't actually being just themselves? I know being on the bachelorette wouldn't work for me, I would be minding my p's and q's and making sure I was all lady like- for sure they wouldn't hear me swearing like a sailor! (not that I ever do that lol)
Hell, it's hard enough to nail down the basics (ie truth, honesty, faithfulness, chemistry and other certain core levels of compatibility) without even getting into this over-the-top, much removed from reality pomp and circumstance!
And just remember, 99.9% of those so called "relationships" on tv end up failing after taping wraps up.
