I'm so sorry to hear that. That doesn't sound like the best situation to me continuing to live there. I get the money thing. Do you have friends or family reasonably close you could stay with to get back on your feet. I broke up with my girlfriend a few years ago shortly after we signed an apartment lease and before we moved in. Because of money I still moved in with her because I couldn't afford to live on my own and my parents were homeless at the time. Biggest mistake of my life, she was dating 2 months into it and then started sleeping with our next door neighbor. I'm not saying that is what will happen but I found the situation extremely unhealthy and would hate to see you get into a bad spot.

as firsttracks suggested, try to find friends or family close by and see if you can possibly pay rent and live with them? or you can look around for a potential roommate and after finding someone interested or whatnot, ask/tell your ex this living situation isn't working out and suggest that they find a place on their own...

I can understand the situation of needing to share a place, but better to find a compatible roommate than a flame that is going to burn out. I know, I know.. we swear this is the one that is going to last forever, right?

if you are in college they probably have a board that lists rooms and places for rent and sublet , etc.

I agree with trying to find a roomate situation for yourself for now, but if you really can't, talk to your ex as set up specific areas that are "yours" and " his". I had to live with my ex for a few months after we spilt. The bedroom became my personal zone, I spent all my time I'm there. And the livingroom was his, to hang out and sleep in
This provided us both with quiet? Persoal space while we looked for other living arrangememts.

I am sorry to hear that you are going through this. Five years is a big chunk of your life, and to keep living with that person is just going to be unhealthy and will prevent you from fully healing and moving on. I agree with the others that you should seek out help from family and friends in regards to finding another place to live if you can. Don't ever be afraid to be alone again, as things happen for a reason, and just look at it as a learning experience. One thing I have learned along the way is that you need to be happy and content being alone before you can be happy being with someone else. Good luck t you and I wish you well.

Living together has proven to not be a good way to move on. In fact, he seems to be acting like nothing ever happened. Well for the most part... he has been acting like a complete saint and is worshiping the ground I walk on... I am unsure what to think of it.

Yeah, you gotta move out, its the only way to move on.

I have found an apartment that I can afford on my own. I can move in August 1st. A little scared to live alone again but I know I can do it. I'm not looking forward to telling him because I think he thinks that we can still work things out. I don't think we can, or should. Something tells me that it just isn't meant to be.
