One of the things I need to work on is socializing with others and making friends. I've been thinking about joining a dating site to try and make friends and force myself out of my element. This is something I know I need to do, and hopefully Ill make some more friends via DS and possibly through writing sites.

I will admit that I feel more comfortable meeting people online because I am nervous about interacting physically with others. Online I am protected by a screen and can just be myself. I know this isnt super great, but I am also trying to go out more with my friends that do live in my town.

I do not want to start a relationship or anything, but I think it might be a good way for me to socialize and branch out. I would like to have more male friends and female friends, but right now I kind of want to make friends that share my geeky interests. This last weekend really showed me that I need to interact with more people that can be stable friends.

So I suppose where Im going with all of this is expressing that I feel I need to branch out and socialize, but also to ask for advice. Does anyone have any suggestions on potential places to socialize other than here?
