It is said that women need constant complimenting. Why is that? Do we really NEED it? How vital are compliments to your romantic relationship? Is it just as important for a man? Should a person have to compliment their significant other?
Are compliments and kindness the same thing? For example, if my husband were polite to me, saying "thank you" when I've done something nice for him, I would call that kindness. If he tells me I look beautiful while I do that nice thing, I'd call that a compliment.
If you put effort into your appearance, should your significant other take notice? If it is obvious that a woman curled her hair and put on a dress, you'd think she was trying to look good, so maybe she'd like to hear that she did a good job of it.
I ask because it seems that a lot of men get by without having to say things like "you're beautiful" or even "I love you" because they seem to justify it by saying women have low self-esteem and are needy for compliments. As though a woman feeling bad about herself should be punished by refusing her the words which may brighten her spirits.

To all your questions: Yes! A man SHOULD compliment his woman, as well as be kind to her! And she him. It's just considerate. Courteous. The right thing to do.
As a guy, I personally like it when she notices that i try to go the extra effort when i do something, for her, or just in general. Like instead of me cooking, her cleaning, I'll sometimes cook, bring the food to her, and clean up. Doesn't matter if she had a hard day or not, i just want to do it for it. One way i try to show my appreciation for the things she does for me.
