Catfish?

Has anyone been cat fished? I've been doing online dating and wow what an experience lol. So bottom line there is a guy I've been talking on and off to for a long time. I haven't spoken to him in about 3 or 4 months, and yes its ridiculous I think I think about this person I've never met. When I say on and off, I probably haven't heard from him in a month or two then I'll message him on the site then the conversations start all over again for like a month then it stops. I always thought maybe he's just not interested in me to meet but has fun messaging. I've done that, and never met anyone. So far from what I know about him he fits my mold of a guy cause I'm SUPER picky about men. He's still on the site and pretty active. So I'm not sure what his deal is or if the profile is fake. Pics are still the same, nothing new. I've Google imaged his pics and no other pics come up to see who this person is like the guys on catfish. Thoughts?

I got cat fished once. Wow. I tell ya. There is nothing more depressing than getting cat fished.

Definitely don't get your feelings involved with this guy if you have never met... he could be a woman, he could be a massive man whore, he could be married, he could be in relationship, he could be a crazy serial killer! There is absolutely no way of knowing for sure what his deal is, so I would just cut to chase if I were you... I'd ask him if he ever wants to meet up, and if he don't then don't bother with him anymore, don't waste your time. Good luck!

Make sure where you meet is public, but I'm just saying to you because I don't know you... I'm sure you know to be safe! Online dating is risky and dangerous, can be. I have never been catfished personally but that is because if person doesn't want to meet within max of maybe 2 months, I cut communication.

Online dating has it's pros and cons. If you have an actual long distance relationship and it's going strong but he comes up with excuse A-Z of why he can never meet you or Skype then maybe you could be catfished. But it doesn't seem like you two are actually in a relationship or have even exchanged numbers. From what you have written you two just pretty much chat online and he hasn't made a move yet or seemed to be interested. Have you asked him if you two can exchange number so you can get to know him offline or that you thought his profile was interesting and you would LOVE to know more about him?

Just be open that some men you meet online are just fishing and then there are some who are genuinely considering a relationship. It won't hurt to ask sweetie.

He's probably married. Loads of men do this as a ego boost and have no intention of ever meeting up.

Koolman...it's after a television show...the term "catfished."

As for online dating, I loved it. I met my now fiance that way and, if for whatever reason, ended up in the dating pool again, I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. Sure, I met some losers and dudes that wanted nothing but sex but, overall my experience was positive. You need to know your standards, what you will and will not tolerate, etc. If you don't, it might be a confusing experience. Otherwise, online dating isn't this terrible experience some make it out to be. Just like real life, you gotta be smart about it.
