When i used to date i would try to date people who had similar standard of living as mine, so i wouldnt be in this situation.
Are there any plans in the future for him to get a car?
I dont mind helping people out, but it would be nice to see him try..
You are doing the best you can.
I live in Texas so it would very difficult not to have personal transportation. So if this happened to me, well...it wouldn't last long at all...
My girlfriend is dating a guy 11 years her junior who doesn't have a steady job and doesn't have a car. She's a business owner, owns her own home, and is incredibly successful. I'll try and leave out my own opinions on this. Anyway, it was all well and good in the beginning when things were hot and heavy. I'm seeing now it's already getting old for her...and it's not even been but a few months. But, she chose to pursue this guy knowing this from the start. Personally, I'd prefer not to get emotionally attached to an individual and THEN have to decide if whatever the headache is, is really worth it. Better for me to not take it any further from the start if I can see it being an issue down the road.
I digress...
The reality is...it's only going to continue to bother you. You can ask him to get a car, ask him to pay for gas, or continue providing the transportation to meet without any expectations, however, not saying anything and continuing to play taxi is only going to make you resent him. Resentment builds, then explodes. Now, despite this, you may really think the relationship is worth it...I can't say that for you, obviously. But, either way, you need to make a decision and you realistically can't expect him to do what you want him to do (get a car, pay for gas). So, it's either accept the situation as is and learn to be okay with it or move on and avoid any further heartbreak on both ends.
