Hi to all its Been a while since I posted.. I check in from time to time to check on feedback and take it into consideration. I thought that I would post this about a neighbor's pet along with other neighbors I know... so to be short my neighbor has this dog... it barks from inside my nieghbors house at noises I make from inside my house... for example...as soon as it hears the back door open and close when I to to dump the kitchen garbage into the big cans outside out back porch.. it barked at me through the windows of my neighbors house and when I was making noises that I made all the way through a renovation that was being done on a room that faced the side of the my nieghbors house. when my neighbors are out with it or let it out it runs over and barks at me through a chain link fence as I put garbage out... it barks at me when I walk up the side walk to get into my car... it barks at me when I am working outside doing any type of work or even if I am just out there.. it will follow me along the fence line and bark. So I decided I had enough of it... that dog barks too much... I have to walk a nurse in to take care of my parents becuase she is afraid... my sister is afraid of it as well and she comes over to take care of my parents.. so I put one of those bark deterant boxes up... and my nieghbor's duaghter had someone spray it with a garden hose... the next thing she did was have this person whom I also know whom I tolerate because we grew up together who is loud...and boisterous and frankly displasy all kinds of narrsasitic traits and behavior and had him come over to make a fuss about it... then the girls mother called me at about 7 o'clock to ask me about the device and I told her what it was and explained the situation about her uncontrollable barking dog that is robbing me of peace while I am already trying to deal with enough stress... well she asked me to take it down and move it because she claims that the dog is afraid to go outside to pee... which I think is a manipulations to say... Hey you are interfereing with the way I keep my dog and my schedule because I dont want to walk it, supervise it, train it... or anything... and basically say that they dont care if I am offended or upset about it if it is robbing me and my family and our guest and workers of their peace and basically being a threat to their safety... This was another drop in the rain barrel to me on top of what I have to deal with and it upsets me that neighbor prefers the welfare of their animal over the welfare and well-being of human beings just as long as their dog barking doesnt and potential for being attacked or driven crazy by a dog that barks at them doesnt bother them or do the same thing to them... I told them that This device only works on demand and it is not continuously on.... and that along with an overbearing bully to tell me what he thinks was enough to really get me angry.... then their stoner son in law who lives with them sat and looked at out back door for at least an hour with a blank look on his face... in the same direction as the device was place which is in line with the where the dog would mainly run over to the fence and vicously bark..... I really think that he did that to put a guilt trip on me because eevery time I was in and out of the house... there he was sitting in the same place staring at my back door and me comming in and out as I did things aroud the house which involved me having to go in and out. so aside from putting up a solid fence or some kind of hedge I am wondering what I can do. Please dont give be terrible critisim for not loving a dog that hates me.... this if the 4th uncontrollable dog they have gotten over long period of time and we have tolerated it for way to long.
I thought I would leave an update:
Thanks to all and thanks for your feedback. I thought that I would follow up Something happened and I do not know what it was but the neighbor is taking better care of the dog now. It must have been when I put the device on the outside of the house near my bedroom window where the dog would also bark from their house at me. To tell you the truth I think that they got tired of it barking all of the time and moved its bed to another room on the other side of the house. But it is still there with the inherent barking that I have come to know but just not as much. So at least something has happened to ease the noise. The thing that really bothered me about the barking is that it caused a loss of sleep when I was a trying to nap and was so distracting especially when I was trying to do work outside or headed inside and needed to concentrate on tools, repairs, procedures, items to grab when coming and going. I used to be able to talk to these neighbors and we had a more cummnicative friendship and I have been as polite as I could on my part but I don't trust this dog up close it has snapped at my hands as I was putting them in my pockets as I was talking to my neighbor (the owner) and it has also run up behind me as I was walking away from my neighbor and it has snapped at my achilleas heal biting the leather cuff on the back of my boot and if it wasn't for the cuff that it did not see It would have possibly broken the skin or done worse. It is part pit bull and something else that makes it look like a friendly lab. But it is not a lab and not so friendly at least not to me. We were such good friends but I hardly go over to visit them anymore and if I do I make sure that I tell them that that dog must be put away in a room or something. Other than that I try to keep things on a peaceful level that has to do with anything that involves our proximity or correspondence as neighbors.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

HOA?
Do what you need to within the law.
It's your house and yard so you and anyone that comes over should feel safe.
Is the dog always safe with regards to where he/she is?.... Behind a safe fence of in the home? but barking?
If he's safe but barks you could address the noise.... Big hug.... I'm sorry that you have to contend with this.... xo
Some dogs bark constantly and Cesar the Dog Whisperer says this is anxiety. The owners are not being "good pet parents" and training the dog that they are the pack leader. So this dog is on its own and that makes it unhappy and anxious.
I never understand how people can enjoy having a dog that barks constantly in their house and out in their yard. I think they tune it out and don't really care enough to be their dog's pack leader and make the dog feel secure and content. They probably have no idea how to do that.
I think if you want to keep this device going, you have to stop noticing them or allowing them to intimidate you. So what if the stoner is sitting on the steps staring in the direction of the box! Ignore them. Close your blinds so they can't see it while on your porch, walk the nurse in and look away from their house. If you don't have a wooden fence, save up and get one. Do not answer the door when they knock. If you have a peephole in your door, and wifi in your house, then get a ring peephole camera and just talk to them from the camera and your phone. If I can put one in the door, so can you. Might be a good thing to have and it will record the dog's closest incessant barking so you can report them to the city.
Why don't you "hide" the box and be more secret about it? Seems like having it out in the open throws gasoline on the feud.
In my city, there is a city code about how long a dog is allowed to be outside and barking incessantly. But frankly, you can't just make reports, one has to have some sort of proof. And where I live, dogs are not allowed to be chained up, that is illegal. So check into your city codes and state laws if they are just leaving the dog chained up outside. Take photos, quietly, when they are not outside. Don't let them know what you are doing.
I don’t know… I get it’s annoying but unless the dog is in danger or is a danger to someone else it might just be something you have to cope with. But I agree to check in your municipality’s code to understand the rules, regarding noise, dogs, etc. I get some things are annoying but not everything rises to a level of being against an ordinance. If it does, work through the proper channels.
People can hate dogs but dogs don’t hate anyone. Usually they are just frightened or anxious. My neighbors dog would always bark at the fence line but was super chilled out on leash. Some of it might be the dog protecting his yard. And if he senses your energy that could compound it. I don’t know. I’m no expert. I just think tit for tat with neighbors rarely goes well.
If it's just when someone walks by you might want to consider is it worth it??
I hear that you're frustrated.... Big hug.... xo
YAY!!
