My boyfriend and I have been together for 6 months and he currently lives a couple hours away. We see each other for a few days every week or so, so it's not ideal but it's working just fine.
I was out with friends last night and ran into a guy that my friend knew through her fianc. I left shortly after, but my friends texted me after I got home and told me the guy had asked for my number and would it be okay if they gave it to him. I said no, it is absolutely not okay.
I almost feel a little offended that they asked. They know my boyfriend, know how much I care about him, and just earlier that night had told them we were considering moving in together at the end of the summer when he moves back to town. If someone asked for my friends number, I'd tell them she was engaged and that would be the end of story. Am I being petty for being mad that they asked me that? I mean, I'm glad they didn't just fork it over, but still. It made me feel like my friends don't take my relationship seriously or that they wouldn't mind if he was replaced.
Am I just taking this a little too personally?

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

I don't think they meant to hurt you or offend. If someone asked about my friend's number, I d probably say - hey, she is in a serious relationship, but I will ask.
I would probably be more upset if my friends decided for me what I should and should not do.
But, if it bothers you, you can just ask her (not via text) without coming across defensive, why she would do that after telling her you guys were thinking of moving in together? It may be she just got excited about the prospect of this guy liking you. Or she may have opinions about your current relationship. So that's the risk of bringing it up; it may open up a conversation you didn'the expect.
Wasn't it flattering to know that this guy wanted your number? Your friends probably knew you would say, No.. but how else were they going to convey the story about what happened to you.
I would be more angry if they did what you said you would do... " If someone asked for my friend's number, I would tell him she was engaged and that would be the end of It" lol... You mean you would make the choice for her and never tell her some dude was digging on her?
When you're dieting do you get angry when someone offers you a piece of cake? "How dare you! You know I'm dieting" lol... just a funny little analogy...
I would let it go
It certainly could be that they were just doing as they were told, but at the same time, for you to react, you may already think they feel that way about the relationship.
just sayin' ...and I could be totally wrong. but if they had said something in the past, then sent that message, I would understand why you would be upset.
I would also be flattered by the guy asking about me.
if the person had asked me, i would respond something along the lines of "she's in a relationship...do you want me to ask?"
if they said "yes", i would qualify them as someone i'd say is suspect
i'd ask you
if you said "yes", our friendship would change
if i were in your shoes, i like reply #1, i don't claim to be what i'm not & i don't make truth that i hide
If I were dating someone and discovered that his friends called him and asked the same question, I would no longer want him to hang out with those friends. In fact I wouldn't want to ever spend any time with those so-called friends.
Relationships are hard enough to find, and your friends should respect you and your boyfriend, and not engage in offering up such temptations; and to think she's engaged and should know better. How would she feel if you were to do the same to her fiance? I can't imagine how your boyfriend will feel about these friends when he discovers this.
I wish you well.
