I just need to know If what I'm asking for from my girlfriend is a lot? I don't work because of my anxiety/depression issues. I do chip in to the household though. I have SSI and I do stuff around the house. She works 32 hours a week. When she gets outta work we have dinner, she showers and gets clean. At this point we sit down in front of the tv and watch a movie or TV show. We both have different tastes and views on things like most people and couples. She dominates the TV when she is home. It doesn't seem to matter what I or a guest wants to watch or listen too. For example last night we sit down and we watch Once Upon A Time on Netflix. She wanted to re watch from Season One. That's fine but she has already seen all of Season One. I will tell everyone that reads this that I am not a fan of the show. I watch both Project Runaway And Project Runaway All Stars, Face Off, Say Yes To The Dress you all get the idea. I just ask for her to pick something neutral to watch or her pick something i pick something. All I ask is somewhat of a say in what I watch. I also say I will go in another room and watch something else and she can watch whatever she wants and i will come back in an hour or however long. But she says no I want you here. I want to spend time with her but my problem is it has to be on her terms at times. My other problem is that if i say anything i'm called a whiner, complainer, i'm told to suck it up. All I ask for is some consideration. She then basically tells me that when she's home it's her TV although I had the TV longer than I've known her. And we watch Netflix on my Xbox 360 which I've also had longer than I've known her. So I ask whoever reads this post this question, Is what I'm asking for A Lot?

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

A relationship takes two people willing to sacrifice for each other and if she wants her way all the time then what you have is not healthy. This will eventually manifest into larger problems than just the TV show your watching. Were is your resentment really coming from though? Ask yourself that. Is it really the TV or is it something else that is making you feel the way you do. If I read your post correctly it sounds like your trying to justify your self worth and your feeling belittled.
You have to decide what's really important to you...
Name calling isn't okay in my book at all...It's abusive and it sounds like this is ongoing... I would at least ask for a sit down and see if you can work out some of these problems otherwise it will get worse over time and it can suck the life out of you constant dominance
You are young and this time in a relationship is usually the honeymoon time... This is as good as it gets... Big hug....xo
One thing, if when you talk to her about how her dominating the tv makes you feel and you are pouting or whining when doing it, she'll never hear you or take you serious. So approach her about it when there are no distractions, where she's relaxed and you're relaxed, but be very direct.
If she's just a mean spirited person to you in general, well then no amount of compromise on your part will never be enough. Some people are simply not good for us. That's why you need to figure out if the issues are bigger than tv and music preferences.
