ok, so recently, i was in a disagreement with someone over something on here that i feel strongly about (sexism)... and instead of talking about it on someone else's post, and mucking up the board, i started to talk privately to this person about it, and i was very careful to keep it only on the topic, and to not say anything mean... and the replies that i got back was... let's me say... less than courteous... and were in fact intimidating.
These msgs said that the reason this person did this was, "because you are outnumbered"
Am i wrong in coming to this place looking for support because i am male?
Am i not welcome?
Why would someone whom i have not wronged, treat me like this.
I came here for support, and someone is willing to be mean to me because I have a penis?!?!? I mean what the hell?!?!?!
That behavior is wrong when men do it to women, and it is just as wrong when women do it to men. It is also wrong when men do it to men, and well, i think that i have made that point... But why would someone try to intimidate me and try to make me feel isolated, which i didn't think that it had, but for the last few days i have been less eager to share, to post, because i don't want to be treated like that... so am i wrong? And if i am not, then why the hell am i letting it get to me?

I think most people are mean and we need to work on it daily to keep from hurting one another,I just think some people dont care and enjoy being mean to others, Sorry someone was mean to you. I think you should be able to talk here without people being mean.

I 2nd Avalanch and I'll too say that I enjoy many of your posts and haven't once felt that you were or trying to be out of bounds...you have good insight, but y'know none of my opinion or anyone elses matters...BUT your opinion does and possibly a lil' FYI email to the DS powers that be are in order??? We are all here for support; and none of us should be made to feel unwelcome by any users.

You said it yourself - this is a support site. So in saying that - people have problems. This person you speak of, possibly is dealing with her own issues and maybe how she responded to you was just a projection of her own "stuff"
Its diffucult to make an opinion on a private interaction however....
As a female i have no probs or preconceived notions about men contributing to these blogs. Men need support to. Women need mens support and take's on things also.

Don't let one womans negative judgements of you impact or hinder your input here - you have every right to be here and your need for support and your input are welcomed by this female and i am sure many others.

i think on every site there are some mean cruel people, this site has quite a few. i wouldn't worry about it too much tho....they know what they are doing is wrong and they have to live with that. if the only thing they have is cruel cutting words thier life must be pretty shallow anyway. Please keep posting and if you want some one to chat to i am always here.

well casper, thank you... i appreciateit... as for the shallow part though... i am not too sure, because there are a lot of people when in pain lash out... it is just that i have never understood prejudice... it is something that i just don't get, and no i am not singing my own praises... it is literally something that just confuses me, angers me, but as for understanding it... i just can't, and i have tried. i understand it exists, and i understand that those that have it usually have a dissociative disorder, but why do that?!?!

People treat others with disrespect because they have not learned how to respect as children. Unfortunately a lot of people seem to have this problem.
You are not wrong for coming to this place for support because you are a man, I believe it makes you a stronger man to do so.
Everyone's views should be respected even when we don't agree. We should not disrespect someone because of their beliefs or what they post. We should show the respect that we expect.

I agree with allot of what has been said in the previous replies here.. We do have trolls umung us,,, they are irritating and the more you ignore the little buggars the faster they will get bored and move on to another site to cause their problems!
I also agree that I have been helped with your replies and have no prejudices against men in general! I appreciate your wit and your insight!
