If people could pray for us today. It is our 13th anniversary and our first appointment with the MC. This is definitely not how I imagined spending our anniversary. We already had a little spat about having to go over all the details again. You can read my story here http://www.dailystrength.org/groups/rebuilding-marriage-after-infidelity/discussions/messages/14086105. Sorry don't know how to link. I have trouble with my husband and his need to heal when he did what he did so recently. I just hope we can walk out of counseling with a plan for healing and feeling better about things rather than worse.
huney...I will pray for you this morning when I sit down to do my devotions.
I certainly understand your anniversary woes. My dday was three days before our 29th anniversary where I had set up a bed and breakfast trip, which we'd been doing the past few years. At first, I didn't know whether to cancel the trip or go. We did end up going, and spent a lot of time talking about the affairs. It was good in that sense that it gave us time away from everything to focus on each other at that critical juncture. But it was the farthest thing away from my mind in how I would be spending my anniversary with her last year.
We are now less than a month away from our 30th. I'm amazed at the progress we've made in less than a year. Especially when I see how many other people are struggling still so much at this point. Of course, I have a good idea why that is, and hope to post about it soon. I've even agreed to do a "recommitment" ceremony on our anniversary this year, is how confident I feel about where we are. It could all come crashing down, I know. All it takes is one mess up. But I feel good about where we are and headed, and have no regrets.
I only pray others will find that road as well.
Prayers would be so awesome right now. Today marks DDAY one year for my husband. I didn't give him the whole truth at first...regrettably. However, I'm not letting that discount progress. He's super upset with me. Didn't even say goodbye when he left for work. He knew I was awake ...I was on the couch...yeah..that's how it works...I'm on the couch..and not a good one. Last night and the night before were really rough. I can't go into detail ...my sinuses can't take any more crying ..but..prayer would very much be appreciated.
I look forward to being an integral player here when possible.
Hugs..peace..healing ...Sherrie
Hoping things are great your way. Going to work on getting in here more. Just looking for a job..so..time is spent there.
Blessings always ...Sherrie
I'm struggling today - really struggling. D-day for me was August 4th, 2012 - so I'm 11 days into this process. Our 33rd anniversary was August 9th....needless to say - I asked that we not celebrate or do anything special.
My story is...weird I guess. This year I went home to deal with my mom's apartment (she was being moved into a nursing home for Alzheimer's) and was gone for two weeks. I saw my dad when I was up there (they've been divorced for 38 years) and realized that I'd like to spend some time with him since we were estranged for a while - his choice at the time. I went back for what was supposed to be a 2 week visit....turned into 12 weeks as we discovered mom has stage 3 lung cancer...and dad wound up having health issues.
While I was gone - I rededicated my life to God....I realized just how much I had put my relationship to Him on the back burner.
While I was gone - my husband wound up having an affair with our 28 year old daughter who lives with us. In his mind (because he believes that polygamy is ok even if it is not culturally accepted), he had this crazy idea that maybe he could wind up having us both.
I suspected before I came home what was happening but decided I was being too "evil-minded". Imagine my shock and pain when I discovered I was right.
He says he will do anything to have me stay and has broken things off with our daughter. I don't think he "gets it"....how much I'm hurt.
I want to stay largely because I hate to see Satan win this one...I know the enemy is after Christian marriages.
But I wonder if my staying would be more of a "sham"....so right now I'm struggling with what to do.
I've decided to give myself until the first of the year before I make any decisions at all. For now - I lean towards trying to save the marriage even though there is a big part of me that just wants to move out and see what life on my own would be like since I was married at the age of 18.
I am sure that is too much information - but this is why I'm so glad that there is a group here for us where we can talk about things in context of our faith.
