susie, 500 to 800 milligarms of silymarin, the active ingredient. Standardized capsules, have about 180 mg, so 3- 5 caps daily.
or if purchasing seeds, hopefully organic and labeled for % of silymarin. you would need 2 tablespoons of the best 6% silymarin seeds and 12 tablespoons of the 1% silymarin seeds. They would need to be lightly toasted, ground fine, and taken with lecithin for better absorption.
Wow us young ladies are all agout the same age. Let us all keep LIVING until we are 100. thanks for all the good advice. I looked into the research (salam research). What a great site. Printed up some things and saved a bunch. Please keep giving this info, i love it. We are in charge when we are informed. I pass along alot of this info to my NP and she makes copies to give to her other hcv patients. So appriciate all of you LOL
Very good info thank you. i read + alot of articles associated. Gave me a better insight of how the medical industries are simular to politics, and why my doctor tells me "i am not trained in this area". I now take this as yes take your milk thistle, ala, tummeric, etc.
I also believe that God created everything we need on earth for healing of any desease and virus. Ezekiel 47:12 talks about this and at the end of the verse it says 'and their fruit shall be for food and their leaves FOR HEALING.'
This is the main reason i choose food, herbs, and vitamins, even though my insurance will pay for treatments. It is not about money for me, but for what works without awful sides and permanent distruction to my body. I believe my full healing will come when i find the right combination.
My herb books and info on the internet are my second bible.
I call Prescription for Nutritional Healing my health bible. It's all about diet and supplements and other things, but it misses one of the most important things, and for that, Louise Hay, You Can Heal Your Life comes in handy. And other books that teach us our thoughts are important too. Perhaps even more important than what we eat.
I am reading this thread and have a few things to add. The University of Maryland Medical School has a website that is really open minded and informative. They report that milk thistle is very helpful and used often to help with liver dysfunction. The thing I am not seeing in the thread is the fact that seeds are only the beginning, they need to be crushed and soaked in either glycerin or alcohol. If it is ill advised to use alcohol then many tinctures are available in an alcohol free base. I use it every day. I hope this helps anyone to find more info on how milk thistle extract works.
