Are you hypO now? Do you get your Free T3 and Free T4 checked every six weeks to keep these at mid ranges, at least? It sounds like your hypO and overmedicated.
Usually after six to eight weeks of taking meds, that the doses are gradually reduced from each lab until one gets down to 5 mg and less per day all the while aiming for the mid ranges of the Free T3 and the Free T4.
Is your doctor dosing you to get your TSH to come up and ignoring the Free T4, especially? If so, it might be a great idea to get another doctor to dose you properly.

I am 49 and I think I'm going through menopause. This last year before I was diagnosed my periods were getting heavy as they had done for my mother. So on July 12th, I was diagnosed with Graves and 10 days later I too the pills to slow things up. This last month I was sooooooo HEAVY. I still have a lot of hyper symptoms so I don't think I"m hypo, but I do still think I'm going through menopause.
If you are 56, you might be at the end of the menopause transition and it has little to do with hypo/hyper.
Being so tired does sound like you need an adjustment. I know from my experience with beta blockers for my migraines, that they put me to sleep. Once you are no longer hyper, I don't see the need for them.
When I was hyper and undiagnosed...my periods just stopped. I had all the symptoms of Graves but since I was going through menopause and divorce...all my symptoms were written off. I'm 55 now and havnt had a period since I was 49. I have read that being hypo can cause interm bleeding if you are still having your period. I think its important to make sure your doc is running the right tests at the right intervals to make sure your meds are working right and to keep you from going hypo. Big Hugs...Kathy
