I know it's hard not feeling well. Do baby steps with the MMI since the doses are now getting lower. 2.5 mg would be good. I would then retest labs in six weeks and see if on track with things and see if ready to go down to 1.25 mg or as I have done this for myself, go down to 1.875 mg with using a good pill cutter that has a thin metal razor blade for it.

Slow and steady wins the graves race. I agree..you do need a decrease...however...if these were my labs I would reduce down to the 1.25 now. Your latest labs show you as very hypo. You have a long way to come up so decreasing down to 1.25 rather than 2.5 will help bring your levels up faster without the risk of going hyper again. This decrease is not really going to make that much of a difference...in my opinion but its really important to decrease in a slow manner until you are off all together...Big Hugs...Kathy

So, 2.5mg or 1.25mg? Or are you saying 2.5mg now, then dependent on the next labs, 1.25mg? I think 1.875mg, even with a good pill cutter, would be especially challenging with my vision as it is just now. I revisited with my endo, who usually wants to wait at least 5-6 weeks to recheck, and she suggested labs at 4 weeks with the 2.5mg would show us where I'm headed. Sound reasonable?

2.5 mg may be reasonable enough as long as your labs are rechecked in four weeks if that's the way you feel comfortable going with. If not you would then be ready to go down to 1.25 mg the next time around.

I'll go with the 2.5mg and recheck in 4 weeks. I've remembered that moving up and down quickly, even within the "normal" range, seems to make symptoms even worse for me, so I'll hope this will start the upward climb, but not make me even more miserable along the way. I noticed improvement in about 2 weeks with the last decrease, but it was bigger. I think, however, from what I've read here, that I have to stay the course until the next lab draw with what I decide now. So if I'm not feeling better in a few weeks, I'll need to wait until those next labs before making a dose change.
And now I'm wondering if what I'm feeling now is some sort of delayed reaction from last month where I was on antibiotics, analgesics, and steroids? Although I'd expect that to all be out of my system by now, and I seem to be recovered from all that.

When I was sick back in June it took me three months to feel better from low thyroid levels (the Free Ts). I did not use any antibiotics, steroids, etc. as I was seeing my old ND and instead used the supplements he had me to take for a bit.

So, I am sure anything is possible with what went on for you.

I knew I would never get to a stable point on methimazole. So glad I had thyroid surgically removed, although it has taken 8 months to really get it fine tuned. Eyes are better when you hit the right dose of Synthroid. Too many variables the other way. As long as you wait to eat before taking, you are good to go. I always wondered about block and replace, but that seems harder to adjust. Hope you get it stable soon.

I hope I get it stable soon, too. Endo has encouraged TT in the past, but has not mentioned it past few visits, although she did say again that it's easier to dose hypo than hyper. I think between the lines she wanted to push it, but I've been resistant. She cautiously said remission is possible, but my starting levels were "pretty significant", even though my goiter is small. But, I've seen folks here with higher starting levels that have reached remission (I think.) I'm going to give it a little longer, although I would like to stabilize soon so I can get this crazy eye alignment corrected. I think the double vision might be a smidge worse. Just realized it's been a year already with the double vision. Sigh...

The thyroidectomy was totally painless and easy, no scar. I was worried that I would go thru all the eye surgeries and then down the road become allergic to methimazole or have liver problems or go out of remission if I had ever achieved it and the eye problems would recur, messing up all the work done on my eyes. It is rare and eyes can recur ever after thyroidectomy, but it is less common. That being said, I think the initial flood of hormones from the surgery made eyes a bit worse, but rather have that happen up front rather than later.

I was mainly worried about muscle and lid surgery with any recurrence or even symptoms from hormone variations, not OD.

I'm even colder (not sure how that's possible) and more forgetful. I thought/hoped I'd start to feel a little better by now, or at least the same, not worse. This morning, for the first time ever, I forgot to take my MMI. Maybe my subconscious was sending a message? Got me to thinking that maybe that's not a bad thing? Considering how low I'd gotten, and how much worse I feel now... (Have to admit, patience is still not my strong suit. Want to feel better faster.)

Second thing--I noticed that the brand of MMI has changed, and I started a new batch a week ago or so. Could that possibly make a difference? It was Heritage, now it's Sandoz. Thanks.

Sandoz is not a good brand. I had heard many complaints over the years about it.

PAR was a good brand for many years, then I was switched to Sandoz and insist on something else. Then I got on Heritage and then BOCA.

I feel the top three brands for the MMI are:

PAR
Heritage
BOCA

I make sure that the brands I want are in the computer with my local pharmacy to make sure I don't suddenly get switched to Sandoz.
