Graves' Disease Support Group
Graves-Basedow disease is a medical disorder that may manifest several different conditions including hyperthyroidism (over activity of thyroid hormone production), infiltrative exophthalmos (protruberance of one or both eyes and associated problems) and infiltrative dermopathy (a skin condition usually of the lower extremities). This disorder is the most common cause of...
Start with a bowl 3 times the size of the 40 or so nuts you start with because the nuts will expand when they absorb water.
The water should preferably be filtered, heat the water a drop, just so it is a little warmer than room temperature. Add a half teaspoon of salt because this is only a small amount.
OK, now you have a bowl with salt, 2/3 warm water, and 1/3 nuts. Just let it soak overnight, if you have pets you may want to put a cover over it. In the morning you'll see giant Brazil nuts, rinse out the water. Now they need to be dried for several hours in a dehydrator which no one ever has. So heat up your oven, you do not want more than 125 degrees. So when the oven is only a little warm you place the nuts on a baking dish and put in oven. Do not bake nor roast them. So shut the oven. We only want a little heat so it could be dry.
Now this would take hours because if the nuts are not completely dry then molds can form on them. So what I do is after only an hour or two or three I keep them refrigerated. This is why I say do only a weeks supply at a time, and don't eat more than about 6 a day. These Brazil nuts are very powerful, they even named the country after the nut, not the other way around. Now that's what I read, but I can't believe everything without other references. I mean the country of Brazil, as for the soaking I got that right, here are some links.

Careful with the almonds- they are a goitrogen. I absolutely love them but I have had to severely reduce, pretty much eliminate them.

I am only trying to help, these past few months I've learned a lot, and have links to documentation of what I say. It's all new
to me. I hope I don't bother anyone, but I also learned that to get vitamin A from carrots you need fat. Yes, sounds crazy, but people who consume carrots turn orange because they are not assimulating the vit A (beta-carotene). So when consumming carrots, or lettuce, one needs to take in fat, it could be in the form of olive oil, butter, nuts, anything that has fat is neccessary for the conversion of vit A from beta-carotene.
As for "brazil nuts definitely is great for getting the FT3 to come up." I still don't really understand T3 let alone this new FT3.
I eat the brazil nuts for selenium when I take natural vit E.
Vit E should not be taken alone, it needs selenium and a few other things with it.
From the Sally Fallon video Nourishing Traditional Diets she says about Conversion Problems.
Needed to convert carotene to Vitamin A
fats in the diet, enzymes, thyroid hormone, and vit E
So to get vit A from carrots you need fat and vit E. For vit E you need the brazil nuts.
I take cod liver oil for vitamin A. Even my doctor said I need it from an animal source, plants just don't cut it.

This one here mentions that if one has Zinc deficiency, Beta Carotene will not convert to vitamin A.

Many people with Graves' Disease (I am the exception) find they have too much Zinc and not enough Copper. Do they have enough Vitamin A or Beta Carotene?
As for me, I am Zinc deficient with having had too much Copper at one time. After I was hospitalized for three days with a suspected thyroid storm, I saw a holistic MD/NMD and asked for blood tests to know what my Zinc and Copper were doing. I had very high amounts of Copper to not enough Zinc.
To this day, I still have to make sure I supplement with Zinc and don't go wild with Copper foods. Of course, somewhere along the lines vitamin A became deficient, even to this day.
So now I am making sure to supplement Zinc and vitamin A and with an oil capsule of vitamin E. Let's see how that goes.

I will post a longer review of my experience in Denver as a separate post, but the one thing of note here is that she told me my eye problem was just strabismus not TED. They actually seemed to think it was humorous that I was diagnosed with Graves' by my eye doctor. Technically, it was a neuro-ophthalmologist.
Anyway, whatever I said previously about having TED may not be correct. I never had the bulging, etc.
