If it were me, I'd continue splitting up the doses so I wouldn't rebound hypER.

I would also look for another doctor since your levels went hypO. There's no reason why to do an RAI, at least not yet.

Post the lab results too...

I so agree with mmz...if you are responding to ATD's there is absolutely no reason why you should even have to consider ablation especially RAI. Splitting up your daily meds at least twice a day...I did mine 3 times a day...this will prevent your levels from bouncing around and give you a consistent amount of meds in your bloodstream.

I was told by both my endos that I had to have RAI in order to live a normal life...I chose not to and stayed on ATD's. I have been in complete remission now for 3 years. If I had listened to them I would have killed a perfectly good thyroid. Please give ATD's a chance to work before making such a huge decision. Big Hugs...Kathy

I agree with the other ladies in not being in a rush to do RAI. I did it myself last year and didn't have any results. My endo told me later that he only sees a 50% success rate. I wish you the best in finding good care and the right treatments!!

This advice is really timely for me. I saw my endo yesterday. Although she told me that my results are looking good (T4:11.5, T3:4.6, TSH:2.06) and she reduced my carbimazole to 5mg, she is concerned about my joint pain and once again raised the RAI issue. She cited my TSI antibody receptor results from 2 years ago (6.64) to support the case and told me if she ran a more recent one it probably wouldn't be much different. She also seemed a bit dismissive about splitting my dose and said 5mg was the lowest I can go. why are they so keen to do RAI? Thank God for you guys & your support.

I wish you all could go to my endo. He discouraged RAI, didn't even rec the RAI uptake test, as he said there was so little value from it in prescribing the right dose of atd. There are good docs out there, have hope!

I was really lucky to have a good GP... she also has Graves. She had the RAI done and has regretted it. When I was first diagnosed she encouraged me to stay on ATD's and go against the advise of both my Endos. Yes...there are good docs out there you just have to be prepared to hunt for them. my endo is new, so I am thinking that might have something to do with it, not wanting me to suffer for a process that might end up killing it anyways if no remission, and my family dr is just a complete moron, he said my blood work was perfect when my tsh was .01 he was like that dont mean anything, the cardio is the one that did the other tests, I have always lived everything happens for a reason and maybe one day I might find out what that is but if not who cares as long as I dont suffer or my family suffer too bad, thanks for all the comments it sure does help
