Hello, I have been lurking for a bit and decided to take this plunge and come join you. I have been 'next door' at diabetes type 2 support group lol.
I have diabetes, have had for almost 16 years. Now I have been informed I am in the 'early stages of Graves disease", but at the moment it is behaving and back into normal range.
my doctor tested my thyroid about 2 months ago and discovered I was hyper .....TSH .027, FT4 at 1.12, and TT3 at 1.72
so off to a endocrinologist who pokes, prod and measures eyes and of course more blood work. I had no symptoms except a couple I thought diabetes related. I have hyper reflexes which they said is part of this, my blood gloucose out of wack suddenly was thyroid, and the lows I thought I was having was actually thyroid...when I felt I was getting a low, I would just have a snack, now of course can't do that before testing to make sure.
My thyroid is swelled a little bit, but no nodules, goiter so 'don't worry', not a smoker so 'don't worry', I won't get the eye issues, don't worry about the hyper reflexes since it is symetric lol...
They tested me at .44 for TSH, T3 113, and TF4 at 1.29
yesterday I had a 'feed me, I am low feeling, but when tested I was no where near a low so guess the thyroid is rearing back up and when you get those 'hunger' feelings from a diabetic low, you have a hard time convincing the body otherwise, but I did so..will be getting more blood work this weekend.
so question - how long will my body do this? going from hyper to behaving (and I now am convinced this has been going on for quite a while) before it becomes so bad to need meds etc? or will it just stop ?

Would you post the lab ranges to go with these lab results please? These are different from different countries, different labs, the person's age, etc.

Reference for TSH 0.34 - 5.60
Free T4 0.61 - 1.12
Total T3 0.87 - 1.78
don't have the other hospital's guidelines yet, but she did say they all were in the normal range
my Ft4 and Tt3 were within the normal range but TSH low, but I figure I was heading on back to normalcy lol
lab work for my primary doctor says
Reference for TSH .027 (0.34 - 5.60)
Free T4 1.12 (0.61 - 1.12)
Total T3 1.72 (0.87 - 1.78)
I would have antibody tests done if you haven't already. Clinically, you are only hyper if your T3 and T4 are elevated. When only the TSH is supressed, it's considered subclinical hyperTHYROID. If it is a fact of being subclinically hyper, it's usually just a matter of time before your T3&4 become elevated....with me it took almost 2 yrs.
Low TSH may also signify a pituatary problem.
She is beginning to wonder if this has been going on a while since my diabetes numbers will suddenly go out of wack and then back into my ranges I hold and I have tight control over this.
I read about the antibody tests, I'll ask her when I see her in March for my reg visit, unless the blood work sheduled this week shows something.
This runs in my family so figured what else can I inherit from them lol
