I was diagnosed was Graves Disease in Nov 2008. I was immediately put on methimazole, prednisone,and treatments of radiation for eye problems. My body seemed to respond. Thyroid levels went down, eye swelling went away. Nothing has happened since then until this week. I have red, itchy, burning eyes and feel pressure all around my eyeballs.

I got new contacts. Maybe that's it... but I got another pair and they still hurt. The burning went away, but not the pressure....?

Is my Graves back?? So worried!!!! It's been so long. Is it possible? Will I have to get radiation again?? Please help!!

I'm so sorry you are having trouble with your eyes. If it were me, I'd get in touch with the Ophthalmologist and find out for sure about the eyes and the contacts.

If you haven't yet, you might want to find out your thyroid levels of the Free T3 and the Free T4 to get a picture of what's going on with your thyroid.

Remember that other things can still happen, eg sore eyes could be things like hay fever and so on...Don't panic, get things checked out as was suggested above.

I agree with the above advise. Only an Ophthalmologist can determine what the cause of your eye symptoms are. Since you've already had a bout with eye problems associated with Graves Disease...I wouldnt leave it to long before getting in to see an Opth...Big Hugs...Kathy
