Hi...I apologize to everyone for disappearing, school has had me pretty busy. I am on a short spring break now and decided to pamper myself with a day at the salon. First of all- just to update you all, I had radiation to my eyes in december. The radiation fried my hair severely and with the lovely graves hairloss my hair was a wreck. I went in fully anticipating to cut all my hair off but my stylist introduced me to a miracle product! She recomended Nioxin step 3 shampoo and conditioner. I have only used it a few times and I can already tell a difference. It is suppose to promote healthy scalp and hair to stop hair loss and make your hair thicker. I have been using Nioxion for awhile now it does help promote a healthy enviroment for new hair growth but try not to use it daily over washing the hair is not the best thing. the term for thyroid hair is glass hair where it breaks off. Also I sugg trying cholestrol treatments and hot oil for the dryness. I also have used rogaine when my hair was falling out at its worst and it did help it not grow back but slow the falling out process. I too had over all shed of my hair it wasnt in just one spot was coming out from all over. My hair still isnt the same and I still loose hair but its not half as bad as it was b4 I jst followed what dermo said

When you are going through the hair issues, DO NOT use volumizing shampoos, it makes your hair more brittle and prone to breakage. The hair issues will subside as the disease gets better or goes into remission. I experienced frightening hairloss. What I hate about this disease is the multitude of symptoms/side effects it has. What a cruel disease.

I have just cut all my hair off! It was almost waist length, now its above the shoulders. I have been using nioxin for about a month and my hair is not falling out in handfulls anymore!!! I really dont like my hair this short but i am so excited that its not falling out. My hair seems to be growing back and its growing faster than it ever has. Thank you everyone for all the good suggestions. It is so wonderful not to stand in the mirror and cry after every shower. Not to mention all the hair thats not all over my house anymore!!THANKS

Nioxin is a great product to use for thinning or bald. For dry brittle or damaged hair Joico K-Pak condition is great too

Biotin in 5000mcg a day helps restore hair growth and the shampoo Nioxin. I work in derm and we give it to all our patients with thinning hair. You can buy the shampoo at any hair salon.

also rogaine will help prevent further hair loss and also potentially regrow hair but when you stop the rogaine your hair will fall out to the state it would have been in IF you had not used the rogaine so you have to use it for life.

Thats not true with rogaine for a medical hair loss Ive talked with my Dermo & trichiologist and they said that rogaine if you have heritary balding if you stop use ur hair will continue to fall out but since we have medical related hair loss that once the condtion is treated the hair will regrow itself. Its just for the time being that the rogaine helps with the DHT. So u can use togaine safely and once ur levels are under control ur hair will stop falling out itself

So for those of you who are using the Nioxin, are you just using the shampoo and conditioner or are you also using the leave-in scalp treatment?
