If you find out your labs we can see if you've gone too hypo and need more of a doseage change. I too had neck and shoulder pain 2-3 months after starting meds. I was only on 2.5 mgs a day. I still can't explain it , but now , more than a year later, I'm on a little higher dose 5 mgs 5 times a week and am probably more hypo than I was then ,but feel better with the pain. It's very weird this disease. I think the body gets hit hard by this and we all seem to have some kind of pain with it, at the beginning or It could be the meds. The secret is to be on the lowest amount you can be on without going hyper again. I think the meds cause this type of pain for some of us. it's listed in the side effects. It's still a mystery to me. I go to a chiropracter now and have felt so much better. Hope this passes for you. If you can get through it,it'll be worth it in the long run, not to get rid of your thyroid, I think anyway.

Ugh. I get those, too. Now, I have had meningitis, so do be sure to get that checked out, too.
Since Graves disease, my migraines seem to have mutated into a hellish combination of meningitis-like pain (stiff neck, back of head pain) and normal migraine symptoms (projectile vomiting, sensitivity to light, sound and smells). Sucks! I hope you feel better, soon!

I also have migranes. They come and go. I used to have them really bad before I got the RAI treatment. Dont get me wrong, I still get them time to time.

I am taking a combo of Phenergan suppositories to stop the projectile vomiting and then maxalt and vicodin.

I am only surprised that the endo specialist did not confirm whether there is a relation between the meds dosage, hyper, hypo & migranes.My last lab on 5/20/2008 were T-4,Free - 0.5 L out of range, TSH, 3rd Generation 0.05 L out of range & T3, Free 189 L out of range. It now appears that I am moved to the other side now hypo & it seems that when around the migranes started. I was of the opinion that if I decide to do RAI treatment then all becomes fine, however thanks Mia for indicating that the challenge we face is not completely over with either treatment.

The only time I get bad headaches is when Im hyper. Im slipping into hypo right now and thats when I get muscle and joint aches. Is it that way for you guys too?

Yes, when I am more on the hyper side (TSH is low) I do get more migrane headaches. Otherwise, I get mild headaches, sometimes daily.

yes your labs are way hypo, which explains it. The doseage change might help,how long have you been on the new one? Make sure you get labs again 4 weeks after new dose. Your tsh is low too, but common with Graves, it's suppressed by the tsi antibodies, and sometimes doesn't appear for months or years. That's why it's not a good thing to go by.The free t 3 and 4 is the thyroid hormone that's available for your body to use, and yours are TOO low. You should probably reduce it down to 10 after this. Of course it has something to do with the way you feel, just like when we're hyper we have certain symptoms. Some are more affected than others, but joint pain is common with hypo,and I suppose headaches too.You definitely aren't hyper, so it's not that. Doctors tend to over medicate, just keep that in mind, you don't often need a high dose to get you to normal ranges and to feel good. I have been over medicated once, and it was only on 5 mgs a day, and my levels weren't as low as yours.
