I may have to have a second one, since the first, almost a year ago, obviously didn't cut it. Besides being immensely frustrated, I'm curious as to anyone else's reactions and successes with the treatment, and if anyone has had it a second time, how long did it take to work? Thanks.

Hi:

I'm on ATD. However, if you do a search here on some of old threads/posts, you should find a couple of people having to have RAI more than two times. One person had to go for three tries before it would work for him. I think it was a man.

I too have been wondering how long it will take for my thyroid to die off. I had Rai in July last year and have also been taking Methimazole along with synthroid for several months.

Sometimes it can take awhile and different for everyone. I had RAI in 2004 and have a friend that took it about the same time I did. Our levels are still fluctuating.

Yikes! I sure wish there was some kind of predictor, especially on those days when you think you can't take one more problem!
